With its rising popularity as of recent years, science fiction has become one of the most sought-after film genres thanks to masterpieces like "Avatar" and "Star Wars."
The year 2022 saw great success in the genre with hit movies like "Everywhere Everything All At Once," but there are more science fiction stories fans can anticipate in 2023.
Here are some of the most talked about sci-fi titles coming to the big screens and streaming platforms next year:
1. 'Dune: Part 2'
"Dune: Part 2" is a sequel to Denis Villanueva's 2021 sci-fi success "Dune," which is an adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel of the same title, The Digital Fix writes.
This movie will continue from where "Dune" left off, about around the time Timothee Chalamet's character rises to power at the same time as the revolt against Emperor Shaddam IV.
This movie, which will reportedly stream on HBO Max, will feature the likes of Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Dave Bautista, with the new additions Florence Pugh and Austin Butler.
2. 'M3gan'
Collider describes "M3gan" as a science fiction horror film that follows a toy manufacturer who takes on the role of her niece's caregiver when her parents pass away.
The toy manufacturer named Gemma, who will be played by Allison Williams, simultaneously creates a robot doll called M3gan while taking care of her niece.
"M3gan" will be out in theaters from January 13 next year, and is expected to stream on Netflix and Amazon Prime shortly after.
3. 'The Mothership'
Written and directed by Matthew Chapman, "The Mothership" is an upcoming sci-fi thriller that will follow Sara Morse whose husband suddenly disappeared without any explanation.
Sara, played by Halle Berry, goes out on a journey to track down her husband together with their kids, after uncovering a terrestrial object under their home.
"The Mothership" will be released on Netflix sometime in 2023.

4. 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3'
"Guardians Of The Galaxy" has delivered great movies since 2014, and next year, it aims to give fans yet another hit with "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3," The Digital Fix says.
This movie will see the comeback of James Gunn to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the franchise's final installation together with Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper.
"Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3" will allegedly be available for streaming on Disney Plus, where the other movies of the franchise are currently on.
5. 'Transformers: Rise Of The Beast'
The upcoming sci-fi action film "Transformers: Rise of the Beast" is a film based heavily on the "Beast Wars" storyline, Collider notes.
This movie is the eighth one in the series of "Transformers" films, which will follow the story of Optimus Prime in 1994 Brooklyn.
"Transformers: Rise of the Beast" will be out in theaters around the United States on June 9, and will be streaming on Paramount Plus after.
6. 'The Pod Generation'
"The Pod Generation directed by Sophie Barthes is a sci-fi romantic comedy film set in the near future where AI has taken over the natural aspects of the world.
The protagonists played by Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor are a young New York couple who prepare to start their own family using a new technology by the company called Pegasus.
While there is no definite date for its release in 2023 yet, reports say that it will be available for sci-fi rom-com fans to stream on Netflix.
7. 'The Flash'
After production delays, the superhero movie starring Ezra Miller is finally coming to cinemas in June of next year.
"The Flash" is a standalone film about the titular protagonist, which diehard superhero and science fiction movie fans have long been waiting for.
"The Flash" will reportedly be available for streaming on Roku after its release in theaters.
