Comcast Xfinity will deliver the 2022 FIFA World Cup 4K and HDR soccer action to its subscribers, exclusive with Dolby Vision HDR.
According to Engadget, Comcast users will get the chance to watch the World Cup as it kicks off on November 20 in vibrant image quality through the help of Dolby.
Dolby Will Offer The Global Event In Dynamic Format
In an announcement, Comcast says that the company plans to give viewers a personalized, interactive, and bilingual FIFA viewing experience across its entertainment platforms.
With this, they decided to team up with Dolby Vision for the live coverage and on-demand replay of the 2022 World Cup for paying customers and streamers.
Digital Trends writes that the individual games of the tournament will be broadcasted, but instead of presenting feeds directly, Comcast is applying the Dolby frame-by-frame format to Xfinity viers.
All users will need is an eligible Xfinity X1 set-top-up box, and a Dolby Vision HDR cable as they tune into Fox's coverage of soccer matches.
"Comcast can uniquely ensure all viewers will get to enjoy the highest HDR quality that their Dolby Vision enabled device is capable of delivering," a Dolby Labs spokesperson says.
"Our platforms will bring together all the various viewing options into one comprehensive destination, making it easy for our customers," Comcast Executive Director of Product Management Vito Forlenza claims.
Engadget reports that the company also has a familiar hub featuring the World Cup for X1 users that lets them follow their favorite teams, track tournament brackets, and watch match highlights.
Dolby Vision support will give users an incentive while they watch the coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Comcast-supported regions.
However, the HDR feature is not a necessity as World Cup content can still be streamed through services like Peacock, Tubi, Telemundo, and Fox Sports.
The World Cup, which is one of the biggest public sports events, can be found on Comcast's entertainment platforms including Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, Xfinity Stream app, and Xclass TV.
