Valorant is one of the many free-to-play games that took the gaming world by storm. Developed by Riot Games, the same people responsible for League of Legends, it is a first-person shooter featuring several characters that each have unique and special abilities.
It can be terrifying to face people who are out to kill your agent, not to mention making you feel like your teammates are carrying you. Here are tips that might up your shooting game.
1. Practice Range
I know, shocker, right? Obvious but true. The practice range will give you the opportunity to get a feel of the game. Practice how you'll track your targets and how you aim, and try out different guns, as mentioned by Redbull. This way, you'll be able to figure out which gun suits you best.
2. Plant Yourself
You'll notice the sound of footsteps when you walk around the arena. Well, the enemy can hear that too, and it may be the reason you get killed. Some guns can easily kill your target, especially if you point at the head. Moving around will prevent you from making a steady shot. That means no walking while crouching as well, which solves the footsteps issue.
3. Aim Lower
If you're good at snap-aiming at your enemies, then you can point anywhere you like. However, in a wave of panic, some may not be able to do that. Aiming low will give you a better chance of taking someone out. Since the recoil actually moves shots upward, starting from the hip will guarantee more hits.
4. Communicate With Your Team
As they say, communication is key. Talking to your teammates about a plan of attack will up your chances. If you're coordinated, it's less likely that an enemy will get the drop on you. Plan who will scout the other areas of the arena, who will protect the champion planting the Spike, or who will keep watch in the distance.
5. Assigned Agents
There are different types of Valorant agents. These are Duelists, Controllers, Initiators, and Sentinels, as mentioned in Dotes Sports. Plan out which characters each of you will choose. Make sure the appropriate roles are filled. For instance, Sova, an Initiator, scans the area before a Duelist wreaks havoc or a Controller covers your team.
6. Try Out Different Heroes
This is where the Practice Range comes in again. Try out different heroes as they all have abilities different from each other. If you're the type to watch from a distance, maybe you'll like Chamber. If you want to make sure you won't walk into a trap, maybe you'll appreciate Fade's "Haunt" (E) ability, which scans the area for enemies.
7. Learn from the Pros
There are many gameplays you can watch, and you should, as suggested by Buff. Observe how they play the game, so you'll get an idea of what you should do. There's no shortage of gameplay videos on every single character. Maybe you'll even learn a few tricks that not many players know, which would give you an edge.
8. Customize Your Crosshair
This seems a bit unnecessary, but it could help quite a lot. It's important to pick a color that would stand out from the background. You can also change the spread indicator, so it would suit how you view your targets. Some prefer a smaller crosshair since it makes a more accurate shot.
