Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Is So Buggy Players Are Getting Refunds

This generation's Pokemon game has some rushing to get them refunded.

Many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players have had enough of the game's various bugs, glitches, and issues and are looking to get a refund from Nintendo.

The Japanese game developer and publisher released Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 18 to critical success but low user scores, per Polygon and Forbes.

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Issues Details

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have received a Metacritic user score of 2.9 based on 1,837 user reviews as of the writing of this article for a good reason: many players are more than displeased with the state the game was released in due to the many bugs it still had.

According to Polygon's report, these bugs and issues include extremely low frame rates, pop-in bugs, clipping issues, and even the occasional game crashes.

Den Of Geek also kept a record of the games' issues, with it adding that some simple actions are weirdly resource intensive, vehicles are failing to load into the game, a collision issue with Koraidon, and even multiplayer partners turning into a deformed titan while riding Miraidon.

Although some have some comedic value to them, many of the games' players are not amused with them to the point that they're looking to refund the game.

A Kotaku report mentioned that many of the games' players are turning in their copies of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to get a refund of the game. The publication cited a Reddit post under the r/pokemon subreddit instructing other players who bought the game digitally on how to get their game refunded on the Nintendo eShop.

Many players had their games refunded, with them criticizing Game Freak and Nintendo for releasing the two Pokemon games in the state they are in.

What surprised the games' players is Nintendo's willingness to provide refunds as if the company knows how bad the game is. This eagerness is surprising for the company, as it is known for making the process of getting refunds difficult, per Nintendo Life.

How To Get A Refund

However, getting a refund for the game is not a guarantee, with many Reddit users sharing that Nintendo customer support requires some finessing before getting a refund.

Fortunately, some of the games' players are advising others on how to get their game refunded if they don't want it anymore because of its poor performance.

A Reddit user mentioned that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players who bought the game on the Nintendo eShop and wished to get a refund for it could call Nintendo of America to do so.

The user revealed that the representative said it would be a one-time exception to their digital refund policy and that they should check third-party review sites before buying the game. The representative's statement seemingly hinted that Nintendo and the Pokemon brand are no longer the marks of quality they once were.
