Amazon has ordered an eight-episode limited series about the bankrupt crypto exchange FTX and its infamous former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, The Verge reports.
The miniseries will explore the unraveling and scandals behind the sunken crypto exchange FTX. It will likely air on Amazon's video streaming service Prime.
FTX Miniseries is Set to Start Production in Spring 2023
The miniseries is centered on FTX. It's slated to begin production soon, according to Cointelegraph.
Brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who are connected to AGBO production company, are said to produce the miniseries.
The Russo brothers are famous for directing "Avengers: Endgame" and multiple other Marvel-owned movies. They are reported to have sold the idea to Amazon.
According to Variety, Amazon has tapped David Weil to write the pilot and to executive produce.
The Russo brothers are reportedly in talks to direct in addition to executive producing the show. Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes for AGBO as well as Natalie Laine Williams are also executive producing the miniseries.
Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke said they are excited to work with Weil, the Russo brothers, and the AGBO team in the upcoming miniseries.
She added the company can't have better partners to bring the interesting and multifaceted story of FTX to Amazon's Prime Video audience. The company is hoping to put the show into production in spring 2023.
According to The Verge, the miniseries will detail how Bankman-Fried co-founded FTX, and led the company to a liquidity crisis. This ultimately resulted in the former FTX CEO being ousted.
As of writing, Amazon is not yet naming showrunners. Likewise, there are no casting announcements made yet.
However, reports say that Amazon is eyeing a number of actors the Russo brothers worked with in the past when they were directing Marvel's blockbusters like "Avengers: Infinity War."

FTX Incident is One of the Most Brazen Frauds Ever Committed, Russo Brothers Say
The bankrupt crypto exchange FTX was founded in 2019. It immediately became one of the biggest and most well-recognized cryptocurrency exchanges in the world.
However, in the past weeks, the company has collapsed. Over $2 billion in customer funds were reportedly missing. Federal agencies are investigating the company. Former CEO and co-founder of FTX Bankman-Fried is widely scrutinized.
According to Variety, the upcoming FTX miniseries will be based on "insider reporting" by a number of journalists who have reported FTX and Bankman-Fried. However, as of writing, the source material the show will draw from is currently unknown.
According to the Russo brothers, the FTX scandal is "one of the most brazen frauds ever committed." They said they want to understand the motivation of someone at the center of it all.
Since the release of "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, the Russo brothers have focused on relatively smaller projects at AGBO. Among these are Netflix's "The Gray Man" starring Chris Evans, Apple TV Plus' "Cherry" starring Tom Holland, and "Everything Everywhere All at Once."
A miniseries about a group of young people involved in a crypto scandal sound like an interesting project for AGBO production company.
However, the Russo brothers are best known for their action and superhero movies. We have yet to see what they might bring to the FTX story.
