PlayStation 'Win-A-Thon' Tournaments Launches On PS5

The PlayStation Tournaments experience is now available on PlayStation 5 after the beta testing conducted over the past three months.

Dubbed as the "Win-A-Thon," the tournaments launched with new features, including shorter tournament times, smooth on-console sign-up, a new interface, real-time match update, and more.

PlayStation Tournaments Streamlines Competitive Play Among Users

In a new rollout, PlayStation released the PlayStation Tournaments on PS5, which will run its course from December 1 to January 31.

According to The Verge, the tournaments can be entered via the Events page on the consoles, which will allow PS4 and PS5 users to break the barriers of competitive online play.

It will feature a ladder, as well as an overall ranking, separating players into the regions they are playing in and determined by total number of wins and placement in the tournament ladder.

The PS5 Win-A-Thon will take place at different times, and will include different games for as many players as possible.

However, it will only support three games as of the moment, which include FIFA 23, Guilty Gear Strive, and NBA 2K23.

Meanwhile, players using the PS4 console will have a bigger selection of games they can choose from titles like Mortal Kombat 11, Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and many more.

PlayStation players can access the tournaments only should they have a console and a PlayStation Plus membership since there are no costs to enter the Win-A-Thon.

During the course of the PlayStation Tournaments, players have a shot at winning big prizes like the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller and the Pulse 3D wireless headset.

Additionally, the top 4 players on PS4 will earn a PS5, while some runners-up can get prizes like cash, premium in-game currency, and digital "not-NFTs" as per The Verge.

It is important to note, however, that the prize pool varies depending on what region the players are competing in.

Due to the easy discovery process of the tournament, players can just scroll to a relevant game in their PS5, and with a simple press of the down directional button, they will see a list of upcoming tournaments.

Signing up for games was also made easier by using the console to access the Control Center or Game Hub, where users can simply select an available tournament and join it by pressing "Register."
