Motorola recently released a software update for the T-Mobile Moto X and now the company has confirmed that the update will roll out to other carriers soon.
The software update recently issued for the T-Mobile version of the Motorola Moto X brought several improvements and bug fixes to the handset. However, customers on other carriers are still waiting to receive a firmware update.
"It should come to other carriers soon. Meanwhile team is back to working on the next update," says Punit Soni, Motorola Mobility's VP for Product Management on his Google + account.
The T-Mobile software release for the Moto X, which is rolled out over-the-air (OTA), brings the current software to version "139.12.57.ghost_row.Retail.en.US."
According to the changelog, Motorola confirms that once you have upgraded to the latest version of the software you cannot downgrade to the original software version 139.11.6.ghost_row.Retail.en.US.
The software update is expected to bring several improvements, especially to the handset's camera. The latest software update also addresses auto white balance issues and following the update, users can capture better natural light on a picture.
The software update further enhances color accuracy for more precise exposure in outdoor and backlit conditions. The new release also shortens the time the handset takes to switch between the rear-facing and the front-facing cameras, as well as the transition between the viewfinder and the Gallery app.
After installing the software update on your Moto X you'll also experience better voice quality during a call.
"Fixed an issue that could sometimes prevent a lost phone from reporting its location to the Moto Care Lost Device Finder service," noted the software update change log.
Moreover, the software update also adds 50GB Google Drive as a promotional offer and customers have 30 days from phone activation or installation of the latest software update to avail the offer.
Even though an exact date for the software release for other U.S. carriers is not known, customers will hope to receive the update on their handsets as soon as possible. Meanwhile, you can visit the official support page to get details of the changelog.
