'The Last of Us' Releases Trailer Showing More of What to Expect

Captioned as the official trailer, fans have gotten a better look at what to expect for the new "The Last of US" show. In around two and a half minutes, viewers are given a peak of what Joel and Ellie's Relationship is like, as well as the setting of the show. For those who haven't played the game, the trailer also gave context on what the show will be about.

What to Expect?

Like the game, the show is set in a post-apocalyptic scenario. Joel, one of the main characters, will be played by Pedro Pascal. Ellie will be portrayed by Bella Ramsey. If you've seen "Game of Thrones," then you'd already be familiar with them, as they were Oberyn Martell and the legendary Lyanna Mormont.

According to Kotaku, the trailer shows how much the series is trying to be accurate, based on the game. If you have played The Last of Us, then you'll recognize how similar the environment is in the show. Fans are already saying that it could be the greatest show if they managed to pull it off.

The trailer shows a similar if not identical premise to its video game counterpart. The two protagonists will journey across the US, as Joel tries to smuggle Ellie out of the quarantine zone. The clip signifies that Ellie has been bitten but not infected, ergo, the potential answer to eradicating the fungus that caused the apocalypse.

The writer of the show, Craig Mazin, also created the miniseries "Chernobyl." It had a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 9.4 out of ten rating on IMDb. Neil Druckmann, the game's director, may also direct at least one episode of the show. Druckmann already showed his enthusiasm on Twitter as he saw Pascal and Ramsey in full costume.

Those who have already played the game already know how it will end. Still, it would be interesting how they will bring the game's story-rich narrative into live action. Who knows, maybe they'll change the trajectory of the plot. It may be well worth it to find out.

Where Can I Watch It?

Since the show is produced by PlayStation Productions and Naughty Dog for HBO, it will air on HBO and HBO Max exclusively, according to PocketLint. If you're already subscribed to the streaming service, then there's no reason to worry. If not, maybe you should think about subscribing. "Last of Us" is not the only show that you might like from HBO.

HBO's ad-free subscription will cost you $14.99 a month, but you can opt for the cheaper ad-supported tier for $9.99 a month. In the UK, fans may be able to view it without subscriptions, since it could possibly be shown on Sky Atlantic on Sky Q, and Sky Glass. It could also be available for the Now streaming service.

HBO announced that the show will hit the screens on January 15th of 2023.
