Pick up the Verizon Motorola DROID MAXX for $249.99

The Motorola DROID MAXX is Verizon's current flagship DROID smartphone. The carrier charges $299.99 for the handset, but a new deal from Amazon knocks it down to $249.99.

Verizon's DROID family of smartphones was created at a time when the iPhone was a multi-year exclusive with rival AT&T. The Android smartphone highlighted many of the shortcomings of the iPhone and educated consumers on what Android could do. The original Motorola DROID will go down in history as the first Android smartphone to take off and truly give Apple's iPhone a run for its money.

Motorola and Verizon have gone on to release many DROID smartphones over the years, and its latest flagship DROID MAXX offers some very impressive features. Motorola has somehow managed to fit a powerful battery inside the thin smartphone that gives the device up to 48 hours of battery life, hence the MAXX name.

The DROID MAXX also gets the same popular features currently found in the Moto X. Some of those features include the ability to interact with the DROID MAXX even while the smartphone is asleep - simply speak out loud and the DROID MAXX recognizes your voice and will perform different tasks by simply speaking to it

The DROID MAXX features a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It is powered by Motorola's X8 Mobile Computing System, which uses a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, a quad-core graphics processing unit (GPU), and 2GB of RAM to ensure a snappy user experience.

It has 32GB of internal storage, a 10-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD recording, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. Its wireless connectivity options include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, and wireless charging capabilities out of the box - no need to purchase an extra back cover to gain this feature (you will need to use a compatible charging pad, however).

You can order the Verizon Motorola DROID MAXX for $249.99 when signing a new 2-year contract. Amazon is offering free two-day shipping with the order.
