Tubmlr Will Now Have a Livestream Feature

Most people knew Tumblr as the social media site that supplies the Internet with cheesy images along with cheesy quotes. However, the site is upping its game as they add a live-streaming feature as part of its services.

A New Live Stream Platform

Tumblr will be offering live streaming to its users via Live box, a video platform. The initial launch will make the feature available for iOS and Android users in the US. Its expansion to other countries and mediums like the web can be anticipated in the future.

The social media platform is not new to the scene. Although, Tumblr streamed by allowing its users to share videos from other services like YouNow and YouTube. Its new streaming service is now entirely its own, as mentioned in The Verge.

Streamers will be able to earn through Tumblr Live by receiving "Diamonds," which is the virtual currency that viewers can tip the content creator. The streams will be moderated by both AI and humans. Although streamers can also assign viewers as moderators.

It's still not as big as Twitch or YouTube, which are the main platforms that people use for live streaming. Although content creators could just use it as another way to monetize content. After all, a little revenue is not so bad.

How Does It Work?

To find live streams that you might like, you can go to the Live tab and search for a specific blog using the magnifying glass icon. There are also pre-made categories you can look through like Trending, Nearby, Favorites, New, and Leaderboard.

You can also Favorite a streamer. By doing this, you'll be updated with their posts on Tumblr since you'll automatically get push notifications. You can always disable this by going to Account Settings, then Notifications, and then Live Video Notifications.

You won't have to worry about your personal data being visible to others. The only information that can be seen by the public is your blog name, as well as the details you choose to share. Other than that, no personal information is shared by the site, according to Tumblr.

If you're streaming, you can play music in the background. However, you have to make sure that the music you're playing is royalty-free. Playing copyrighted music could get your account a strike, which would cause your stream to be removed.

You are allowed to stream from just one blog, and you can only do so via a Primary blog. Streaming from a secondary blog is still not supported by the platform. However, you can link your other social media accounts to your stream.

You can do this by visiting the Tools section which is indicated by a wrench icon. Click on My Details, and then Social Media. You can input your link so your viewers can also subscribe or follow you on other sites.

If you want to maximize your viewership, you can subscribe to the premium service of Tumblr called Blast. With the paid feature, the site will make sure that everyone will see your content. This in turn will get you your views and engagements.
