Google announced on Monday that it's bringing its multisearch feature to India, according to TechCrunch. The said feature allows users to search using both images and text.
During its Google event for India, the company said that the feature will be available in English but beginning next year, it will support Hindi.
Google Multisearch will be Available in Hindi in 2023
Using multisearch, users will be allowed to use a photo of a clothing pattern, for example, and add text like "dress" in order to look up dresses with that pattern online, as per 9to5Google.
Starting in September of this year, multisearch launched widely in multiple languages following its initial beta rollout in April via Google Lens.
Since its launch in April, the feature has been available in English globally. In the succeeding months, the feature eventually became available in more than 70 global languages.
Since many people will be able to use it in their native language, Google's decision to make the feature available in more languages will benefit a lot of people.
Multisearch is particularly useful when you want to search for things because it uses Google Lens to search for objects that are difficult to find when you're just using text.
For example, let's say you're looking for a shirt in a different color. Using multisearch, all you have to do is open Google Lens and take a photo of the shirt. Afterward, you can use the photo that you've taken to search for it.
In October, Google made the feature available to US-based users. Now, the company is bringing it to India.
According to the company, multisearch in India will initially start with Hindi but Google has plans to expand to more Indian languages eventually.

Google Introduces Other Features
In addition to multisearch, the search giant said that it will also allow users to search within YouTube videos.
This feature will be available on the Google Search app. It will let users type a phrase after tapping on the "Search in the video."
Once you search for a phrase, the results will show you the occurrences of it in the videos.
Another feature that Google announced during the event is the improvement of speech detection for users who are looking up voiced queries in the Hinglish language.
TechCrunch illustrated an example. According to the news outlet, if a person asked, "Sparrow ko Hindi mai kya kehte hai?" or "What do you call a sparrow in Hindi?" the earlier model will not detect this properly.
But with the improved speech detection search, queries asked in English will be identified properly.
According to the company, they already allow users in India to look at search result pages in both English and Hindi at the same time.
Next year, the tech giant plans to extend this to Tamil, Telegu, Marathi, and Bengali languages.
Meanwhile, the company is also planning to introduce a search functionality in its UPI-based (Unified Payment Interface) Google Pay app.
With this feature, users will be able to search for different kinds of expenses with natural language queries.
According to the company, some of these options will be easily available through shortcuts in the Google app on iOS. Likewise, they will be extended to Android at a later stage.
