Twitter Posts May Show View Counts Soon, Says Elon Musk

In the flurry of changes that Musk has been implementing for Twitter, you can now add view counts to the list. The tech billionaire said that view counts will start appearing in just a few weeks, just as it does on videos.

Doesn't Twitter Already Have That?

Yes, Twitter does. You can tap on the three dots at the top-right corner of your tweet and view your tweet analytics. It shows impressions such as engagements, profile visits, and new followers. So what's special about the new view count?

Unlike the analytics, you'll be able to see the view count right then without having to navigate elsewhere. Although it's still unclear whether it will be visible to the person who posted, or to everyone else who sees it.

Since Musk said that it's "just like videos," it might be visible to followers as well. Since his tweet also mentioned that Twitter is more alive than people think, this might be Musk's way to show users that there are still many active users around, which requires public view counts.

According to The Verge, one of their users can see the view count as they click on their own post. However, they still don't see it in other tweets, aside from videos of course. Since it's still in its early stages, it's still a little early to tell.

It hasn't rolled out completely yet. Some users are already starting to see changes, but even then, it's only in certain instances. Checking Twitter on both Android, iOS, and the web, the feature is still not visible.

Some of the Other Changes

When you search for a government, organization, or business account, you might see a different color on their verification tags. Twitter Blue rolled out the feature to differentiate its subscribers, whether they're everyday people who paid for Twitter Blue or important entities.

Twitter may also release business or organization icons soon. Main accounts from the two mentioned systems may verify the accounts of their employees. That way, a company or government icon will appear beside their names, adding to the account's credibility.

There's also the new policy about doxxing, wherein users are not allowed to share real-time locations of individuals without their permission. The anti-doxxing policy came after an account called @ElonJet shared the location of Musk's jet which led to terrible events.

Even the journalists who mentioned the issue, @ElonJet, or Jack Sweeney were suspended from Twitter, as mentioned by Engadget. In case you don't know, Jack Sweeney was behind the Twitter account that made the location of Musk's jet public.

In terms of management, the tech billionaire might be stepping down as CEO as soon as he finds a replacement. This comes after he tweeted a poll asking if he should resign as Twitter's CEO, which led to 57% saying that he should.

Funnily enough, Musk took the news heavily. Because of the outcome, he has now limited poll voting to Twitter Blue subscribers. It's not surprising based on his recent activities on the $44 billion social media platform.
