Disney Plus Is Welcoming Stan Lee Documentary in 2023, Marvel Says

Marvel Studios announced a new original documentary about the life of comic book hero Stan Lee on Wednesday, the day he would have turned 100.

The company also said that the documentary, simply named "Stan Lee," will be released as a Disney Plus original some time in 2023.

There Is Only Little Known Information About The Project

The production company shared the trailer for the film on Instagram with the caption "100 years of dreaming. 100 years of creating. 100 years of Stan Lee," to tease about the project.

According to Variety, a few of Stan Lee's lesser parts and cameos in movies can be seen in the recently released video.

The euphoric montage then ends with a progressive zoom-out that shows an image of the multi-talented creator.

With the film, Marvel intends to honor the late comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer's history as a co-creator of some of the most iconic and beloved characters in existence today.

Due to his numerous memorable cameos in Marvel Studios movies, Lee, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 95, rose to become one of the most well-known pop culture figures in the world.

His creations include characters like Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Black Panther, the Hulk, the X-Men, Thor, the Silver Surfer, Ant-Man, Nick Fury, and many others, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

Lee maintained his connection to Marvel even after leaving the company in the 1990s through cameo roles and executive producer responsibilities on Marvel productions.

The documentary has no fixed release date as of yet, but media outlets have promised to update fans as events progress.

The Legacy Of Stan Lee Lives On

At the age of 17, Lee had his first prose piece published in the fifth issue of Captain America Comics, which marked the beginning of his career.

Then, in the following many decades, Lee held the positions of interim editor and editor at Timely Comics, the company that preceded Marvel.

He started working at Marvel Comics as an author and editor-in-chief in the 1960s before being named publisher in 1972.

Eventually, Lee rose to fame as the most recognizable comic book author in the medium's history as a writer and editor for Marvel Comics.

This is because he was the only artist in the genre whose notoriety was on par with the characters he created, Deadline writes.

"A superhero in his own right to Marvel fans around the world, Stan had the power to inspire, to entertain and to connect," Disney CEO Bob Iger describes the Marvel legend.

Iger even adds that Lee was not only a man of talent who was as extraordinary as the characters he created, but he also had a heart as big as his imagination.

Marvel took the action of licensing Lee's likeness for use in theme parks and goods earlier this year to cement his legacy.

This is after the continued demonstration of public interest in Lee as one of the primary innovators of the contemporary superhero genre, according to CNet.
