[VIRAL FLASHBACK] Here are 5 Viral Videos From 2022 That Made a Mark on the Internet

The internet is full of many interesting things. From factual to funny to viral - you can find almost everything on the internet. And speaking of viral, a number of videos made their mark this year.

Some of these videos are funny, some are traumatic, and some are hilarious. Whatever their content may be, we can't deny the fact that they have the viral element that made people keep on hitting play to see them over and over again.

As the year ends, let's look back at these viral videos that circulated on the internet this 2022.

1. The Will Smith Slapping Incident

During the 2022 Academy Awards in March, host Chris Rock poked fun at Jada Pinkett-Smith, who was present at the event supporting her husband, Will Smith.

Rock joked at Pinkett-Smith's shaved head. He then asked her when "G.I. Jane 2 "was coming out. This appeared to upset Pinkett-Smith, who happened to shave her head because of hair loss due to alopecia.

Smith, who was not happy with the joke, walked towards Rock and slapped him across the face. For days, the incident became one of the most talked about moments on social media. According to Time, TikTok creators broke down the slap incident moment by moment, and memes about it circulated.

2. The Man Who Accidentally Killed the Most People in History

In the viral video, "The Man Who Accidentally Killed the Most People In History" from Veritasium, we will discover that it was Thomas Midgley. Indirectly, he caused the deaths of millions. Moreover, he lowered the collective IQ of the entire human race. And he may ultimately be the one responsible for the end of all human life.

How did he do this? He did it all with science! Midgley is the one behind putting lead in gasoline. This has led to an incalculable number of deaths. He also pioneered using freon to keep refrigerators cold. Of course, it led to the development of all the chemicals that put a hole in the ozone layer and helped hasten global warming.

3. I Tried to Profit Off an Arcade

In the viral video, "I Tried to Profit Off an Arcade," YouTuber Drew Gooden answers that one question that's bugging many of us, can you make a profit at an arcade? So what's the answer to the question? We won't spoil it for you. You have to watch the video to figure out the answer.

4. Staying at an Underwater Hotel

YouTuber Safiya Nygaard stayed at an underwater hotel where she had to SCUBA dive to get into Jewel's Lodge in Florida. According to Life Hacker, in the 1970s, the hotel used to be a research station, thus, it's not exactly the most luxurious place on Earth.

The hotel is cramped and looks like it would smell moldy. Once in the hotel, there is nothing to do but stare out the window at the green and mucky water.

5. Utah's Rapping Granny

Linda Paulson, an 80-year-old woman who ran for state senate in Utah, went viral when she released a video of herself rapping. To attract the youth vote in her district, she released a rap video.

Paulson's rapping video went viral, with liberals rushing to insult it and a few conservatives saying it's good or funny.
