Elden Ring has won Game of the Year and Best Game You Suck At, according to Valve's announcement of the 2022 Steam Awards winners.
With its recent win, Elden Ring has reportedly surpassed The Last of Us: Part II as the game with the most Game of the Year awards ever, Push Square notes.
Many Find The 2022 Steam Awards Results Surprising
This year, users of Steam enjoyed voting for unusual prizes in addition to popular categories like Game of the Year.
These honors, however, are not similar to Steam's Best of 2022, which scores titles using many criteria.
While many older games made it into the list, the awards primarily honor games released in 2022, Game Spot notes.
It is notable that except for Cyberpunk 2077, none of last year's winners have returned, with Elden Ring being the only game that took home two awards this year.
Elden Ring winning Game of the Year is hardly surprising given that it received the top mentions at The Game Awards.
With this, the open-world RPG Game of the Year presently holds 323 awards, surpassing Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic sequel The Last Of Us: II.
Other games bagged awards as well, including Hitman 3 which was named Best VR Game due to its early release this year.
The Labor of Love award, which honors games that get updates or ongoing care, went to Cyberpunk 2077 as well.
Additionally, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and God of War both won prizes, demonstrating the popularity of recently released PlayStation ports.
In honor of the launch of Steam Deck this year, Valve added the Best Game On The Go category, letting users select their favorite portable game.
