CES 2023: Signify to Launch a Philips Hue Sync TV App for Samsung TVs

The company that owns the Philips Hue brand, Signify, is releasing a Philips Hue Sync TV app for Samsung TVs, according to The Verge.

The $130 app, which syncs everything on a TV to Philips Hue smart lights, will be made available for Samsung QLED TVs manufactured in 2022 or later on January 5.

The App Will Have Support For Other Native Apps

The $250 Play HDMI Sync Box, which scanned HDMI inputs to sync lights to movies and TV shows, was essentially replaced by the app as its software counterpart.

Similar functionality is provided by the Philips Hue Sync TV app, but it also supports native apps like Netflix and Disney Plus, which the Play HDMI Sync Box did not.

There will also be a range of choices to set intensity, brightness, autostart, and other features in the Hue Sync TV app, and all picture formats and TV programs will be compatible with it.

It is important to note that if the lights are put behind a TV, the existing Philips Hue Play gradient light strip and Hue Play bars will connect well with the TV app.

Whether they are streaming a movie, listening to music, or playing games, users may use it to synchronize whatever is playing on some Samsung TVs to Philips Hue smart lighting, Engadget writes.

Signify offers new Philips Hue PAR38 floodlight lights, which are intended to illuminate backyards or sidewalks with color, in addition to the Philips Hue Sync TV software.

On March 14, it will start selling the PAR38 white and colored ambience bulbs for outdoor use for $80 per bulb or $150 for a two-pack in the US.

Meanwhile, beginning January 24, the company will sell a Resonate downward wall light in the UK for £110 that can illuminate outdoor areas in both white and colored light.

Additionally, Signify has disclosed that the Go portable table lamp, which it introduced last year, would go on sale in the UK on February 21 for £140.

How Can Customers Use The Sync App

Owners of Samsung TVs can modify the Hue lights' intensity and brightness using the Sync app, according to Tech Hive.

Furthermore, the Sync app has something to offer consumers who want to game on their Samsung TV by adding a game mode alongside its video option.

If customers have HDR10+, the Hue Sync app for TVs also effortlessly integrates with it. It supports breathtaking visuals with a resolution of up to 8K.

Before, Samsung TV owners needed to buy a Philip Hue Play HDMI Sync Box to sync their lighting with what they were watching.

Tech Times writes that Samsung TVs are among the HDMI devices that the HDMI device is compatible with.

The Hue Sync app, however, enables users to sync without any third-party devices, thus owners of the latter could begin utilizing it.

Jasper Vervoort, the Business Leader at Philips Hue, claims that the company considers the availability of Philips Hue Sync for Samsung TVs to be a watershed moment.

According to Vervoort, this marks a significant turning point in Philips Hue's history as a home entertainment company and in our ongoing cooperation with Samsung.
