Verizon LG G2 price slashed to $99 for new contracts, $119 for upgrades from Amazon

The Verizon LG G2 launched a few weeks ago and is priced at $199.99. Amazon just cut the price of the smartphone to $99.99 for new customers or $119.99 for upgrades.

LG has gotten more serious about its smartphones in terms of design and hardware over the last years. Google took notice and asked the company to build the Nexus 4, which was released in November 2012. The handset was based on LG's Optimus G and has proven to be one of Google's best Nexus smartphones yet.

Google has once again asked LG to build its upcoming Nexus smartphone and the handset is reportedly based on the LG G2. Google must have been pretty impressed with what the G2 offered in terms of specs and design to partner with LG again. The Verizon LG G2 was just released and is priced at $199.99 when signing a new 2-year contract. You can pick up the same handset from Amazon for $99.99 or $119.99 for upgrades.

The Verizon LG G2 features a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD IPS display with a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch (ppi). It is powered by a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. LG has included a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.

The smartphone's wireless connectivity options include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The LG G2 includes 32GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. It packs in a large 3,000 mAh battery and Verizon's LG G2 model comes with an exclusive feature - it supports wireless charging out of the box.

LG has also included some of its own exclusive software that enhances your experience with the G2. Some of these features include:

QSlide Function. Multitask efficiently with the ability to open two additional windows over your main screen, and adjust their window size and transparency.

QuickMemo. Write or draw on any screen using just a finger, adding a personal touch to everything. And with On-Call Notes, jot down ideas during a call and access them later on from G2's call log entry.

QuickRemote. Turn your G2 into a programmable remote to control multiple compatible electronic devices such as TVs, cable set-top-boxes, audio systems, and even air conditioners.

Capture Plus. Save a full Web page rather than a limited screen capture.

Clip Tray. Lets you copy and store multiple items, such as a screen shot, to a PC-like clipboard for use in other applications.

Slide Aside. Move between up to three apps at once, by using three fingers to slide your current screen aside, and access another app.

Guest Mode. Customize the G2's experience with two modes -- one for yourself and one for a child or guest -- keeping your personal information and device settings safer. Access Guest Mode by unlocking the device with a separate lock screen pattern, letting you control which apps are available for a different user.

KnockON. A simple knocking gesture is all it takes to wake G2's display without picking it up or pressing the power key. G2 senses the gesture and turns the display on or off automatically.

You can order the Verizon LG G2 for $99.99 or $119.99 for upgrades through Amazon when signing a new 2-year contract. The retailer is including free two-day shipping with the order.
