In addition to the anticipation of the iPhone 16 for next year, it's possible that Apple might launch an iPhone Ultra, which will be superior to the Pro and Pro Max Models. Of course, with the possibility of it being better than the other phones in the lineup, it could also cost more.
iPhone Ultra
Speculations say the new "Ultra" tier may come with camera improvements, a faster chip, and a larger display. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman initially said that the new model might replace Apple's Pro Max brand for the iPhone 15 lineup. Now, he believes that it could be an entirely new tier.
Seeing as the new tier could offer more than even the Pro Max models, it can go higher than $1,099, according to The Verge. Reports also say that Apple might consider a price increase for iPhones, as people would be willing to pay more for a better product.
Tim Cook mentioned that iPhones have become an integral part of people's lives, and that they are willing to stretch whatever they're willing to spend to get the best product. With that said, it's possible that more people would prefer a superior product even if it is above their given budget.
Aside from the features that Apple might add to the "Ultra," it could also come with a USB-C charging port, which is also rumored for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The iPhone 15 lineup may also feature haptic volume and power buttons as opposed to physical ones.
iPhone 15
Before people can catch a glimpse of the potential iPhone Ultra, they will be seeing the iPhone 15 lineups much sooner. There have already been rumors as to what might the features of the next iPhone lineup be.
Other than the haptic volume and power buttons, the next lineup might be compatible with the iPhone 14's Dynamic Island. It is rumored to be using a Qualcomm modem chip and the Pro models will feature a Periscope zoom lens and a USB-C charging port.
There will be four models of the same size as the iPhone 14, which are the two 6.1-inch displays and the two 6.7-inch displays. The standard models might use 3nm A16, while the Pro and Pro Max models will use 3nm A17 chips.
Rumors say that it will look fairly close to the iPhone 14 design, but that the pill-and-hole cut-out will now come with all the models in the lineup, as mentioned in MacRumors. It's unlikely that the iPhone 15 lineup will have Touch ID, and will stick to the currently used Face ID instead.
Since the iPhone 15 Pro models could have a USB-C charging port, higher data-transfer speeds could come with it. However, the other models will remain at USB 2.0 speeds. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the Pro models will at least support USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.
Speaking of exclusive Pro model features, it's also leaked that Apple is upgrading the iPhone 15 lineup to Wi-Fi 6E. The standard models will still be using the Wi-Fi 6, which is yet another selling point for the Pro and Pro Max models.
