NVIDIA has started distributing a patch to remedy a bug that made some of its GPUs perform slowly while users have Discord open.
The company announced that starting today, whenever users log onto their PCs, Windows would immediately download an update to an app profile, Engadget writes.
The Company Announced The Performance Bug Fix In A Tweet
The update fixes a problem that prevented some NVIDIA GPUs, such as the RTX 30 series models 3080 and 3060 Ti, from pushing their memory as quickly as possible when Discord was running in the background.
NVIDIA users have reported that their video cards have occasionally experienced a 200Mhz slowdown, which results in a minimal performance hit in the majority of games.
Users of the Linus Tech Tips forum and Reddit were among the first to notice and report the problem on the platform.
According to reports, a recent Discord update that supported the AV1 codec created the issue that affected users' experience.
Users of the RTX 40 series may now stream their games on Discord Nitro in up to 4K and 60 frames per second thanks to the updated codec.
Although the fault did not seem to affect RTX 40 series cards, the company swiftly acknowledged the problem and provided a temporary fix.
The RTX 3080 and RTX 3060 Ti problem prevented GPUs from achieving their maximum memory clocks, falling about 200Mhz short, Gizmochina details.
This resulted in a slight decrease in performance while playing games, which was not ideal given that Discord was made to improve gaming experiences by enabling user-to-user communication.
It is now possible to export, edit, and re-import profiles without downloading a profile manager thanks to an app profile update that addresses this issue.
Before, users could only manually apply the update, but NVIDIA has greatly simplified the procedure.

Discord Has Also Recently Rolled Out A Fix For Unsupported Format Bug
Although Discord is generally liked by its users, it occasionally has glitches and problems that let users down as seen in the performance bug that has been recently fixed by NVIDIA.
Piunika Web has highlighted, for instance, how some users were unable to email or download films, and two weeks ago, users experienced a video format-related glitch.
There have been reports that when a movie is downloaded from the platform, it shows up in the gallery and the Android file picker grayed out and without a preview.
The movies are downloaded as MP4, which is supposed to be supported but is reportedly not working even if it appears that they are in an Unsupported format.
This problem, which affects the app's version 159.10, has been reported by numerous users on Reddit and other communities, just like the most recent performance bug.
Despite this, the platform has been quick in addressing bugs that cause issues and affect user experience to make sure that they make the most out of Discord.
