There have been rumors that Verizon would launch the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and it looks like it's one step closer, as an image of the smartphone has leaked.
Samsung has been pushing its Galaxy S Mini smartphones, with its previous-generation Galaxy S3 Mini just landing on AT&T at the end of September. The carrier has priced the handset at a very low $0.99 when signing a new 2-year contract or $284.99 if bought outright.
It appears that the more up to date and better spec'd Galaxy S4 Mini is on its way to Verizon in the near future. We know this new information thanks to our favorite tipster, evleaks, who has posted an image of the smartphone with Verizon branding printed on the back of the smartphone and on its home button.
The Galaxy S4 Mini was designed to appeal to consumers who liked the design and features of the flagship Galaxy S4, but would prefer having a more pocketable device. To achieve this, Samsung has used a 4.3-inch display in the S4 Mini compared to the 5-inch display of the Galaxy S4.
The Galaxy S4 Mini looks nearly identical to the Galaxy S4, but comes in a smaller and lighter package. It features a 4.3-inch 540 x 960 Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch (ppi) and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The handset is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1.5GB of RAM to provide a fast and fluid user experience. It has 8GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will allow users to add up to 64GB microSD cards for additional memory.
The smartphone is also packing an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, and can record 1080p HD video, and it also has a 1.9-megapixel front facing camera for video chat. Its wireless connectivity options include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. Samsung has included a removable 1,900 mAh battery.
There's no word on when we might see Verizon officially announce the Galaxy S4 Mini, but thanks to our tipster we know it probably won't be too long of a wait.
