Ram’s $100 1500 REV Electric Truck Reservations Sold Out in a Week

Pre-orders for the Ram 1500 REV are officially sold out.

The Michigan-based automaker recently closed the "membership" or reservation slots for its Ram 1500 REV, which it showcased as a concept truck during CES 2023.

The company previously gave the truck its official announcement in mid-February, though it was largely different from its CES 2023 counterpart, per Engadget.

Ram recently updated its reservation page for the Ram 1500 REV to state that it closed its reservation slots as it has reached "membership max capacity" due to high demand - an interesting fact considering it only opened reservations a week ago.

Ram mentioned that its reservation slots began between Feb. 9 and Feb. 10, though it officially announced that they were taking paid reservations during Super Bowl Sunday, per its press statement. It also mentioned it would end on Feb. 28 or until reservation slots last, though due to the car's high demand, the latter happened first.

This demand is in spite of the fact that the reservation slots don't guarantee a chance to order or purchase a Ram 1500 REV, as the company said on its reservation page.

A recent Engadget report mentioned that initial news for the reservation slots' closure was posted on a RAM 1500 REV forum on Feb. 17, meaning that it took less than a week or a week at most for reservation slots to be filled.

Erin Marquis of Jalopnik would later confirm with the automaker of the reservation slots' status, though Ram didn't give additional information on the number of slots purchased or when they might re-open again.

All is not lost for those who wish to get a Ram 1500 REV for themselves, however. They can still sign up for the car's newsletter and be informed when Ram has new reservation slots available.

The Ram 1500 REV is a much different unit than its futuristic CES 2023 counterpart, though the automaker did mention that the concept truck's prototype would serve as a design template for its first electric truck.

As such, the truck looks more like its gas-powered siblings than its futuristic prototype. It features more modern-looking front- and rear-facing lights while also having a conservative interior.

The truck comes with a battery pack based on an 800-volt architecture capable of fast charging at 350 kilowatts, though the actual pack capacity is yet to be disclosed.

Unfortunately, Ram has yet to reveal the car's power or torque figures, but it did mention there will be two drive units and an all-wheel drive.

On the other hand, Ram is targeting a driving range of up to 500 miles and a towing capacity of over 10,000 lbs. for the truck.

It even comes with Home Energy Charging capabilities. Should a home be properly equipped, the car can power a home using the available charge it has.

Last but not least is its "frunk," which offers easy-to-access onboard power and cargo space with secure, weatherproof protection.
