Google TV Adds New Navigation Features With Recent Update

On Thursday, Google announced updates to the Google TV user interface, some of which should already be available to US customers.

According to CNet, the updates include the addition of four new content pages labeled Movies, Shows, Family, and Español under the apps row in the For You tab.

The Update On Google TV Is Launching Globally

It might be challenging to find the shows viewers want to watch occasionally with all the entertainment options accessible to them from their favorite streaming apps.

However, Google said that it is delivering a new update to Google TV globally today, suggesting that it has a strategy to assist users in finding the content they want.

The update will make a few useful navigational changes and add four new content pages to the app, Android Authority notes.

With the categorization of options and the consolidation of content from other apps, these modifications are intended to make it simpler for users to find content.

From now on, everything with a PG or lower classification, from classics to recent releases, will be available on the Family page.

Meanwhile, users will now be able to access Spanish-language entertainment through the Español page.

Movies, TV shows, live TV, a collection of subtitled and dubbed content, and apps like Pantaya and FlixLatino from this website will all be included in this tab.

Moreover, users will have the ability to search for movies on the Movies page by genre, title, or topic.

Lastly. the Shows page compiles thousands of shows from all of their subscriptions, similar to the Movies page.

Tech Crunch says that the new content pages are designed to enhance consumers' search experiences by consolidating all material from all entertainment apps in one location.

With that, those that subscribe to various streaming services and struggle to decide what to watch will probably find the pages to be a highly appreciated feature.

Google Also Added A Few Tweaks To Google TV's Interface

Regarding navigational refinements, Google claims that the profile switcher has been moved to the top left corner and the search bar to the far right of the app.

In addition to that, the company also put a new quick settings button right next to the search bar, as per Android Authority's report.

According to Google, these upgrades will be available on Google TV devices from Hisense, Philips, Sony, and TCL as well as Chromecast with Google TV.

Before May 2022, the personalized profile feature could be seen at the top right of the Google TV home screen.

It can be remembered that prior to this update, Chromecast with Google TV 4K also got an improvement from the tech company.

This first rollout called STTE.220920.016.H1 features only a minor build jump from the last update which happened in November, 9to5 Google reports.

It is notable that Google only upgraded the streaming device three times in 2022, with the first update arriving in July and the second in September.
