Last week, the well-known messaging app Telegram updated its macOS version with a new function targeted at MacBook users.
The "Power Saving Mode" option for laptops disables a number of resource-intensive processes to extend battery life, 9to5 Mac notes.
Telegram Desktop Users Can Also Enjoy This Feature
Users can enable the functionality in Telegram's settings and it comes with version 9.4.1 of the macOS app.
When the functionality is enabled, Telegram disables several resource-intensive elements including animations, videos and GIFs that start playing automatically, as well as other UI effects.
As a result, the program consumes less hardware and electricity when being used on any MacBook with the aforementioned macOS version.
Even so, the user has the option to modify the behavior of Power Saving Mode and decide which effects and animations to disable entirely when this mode is active.
The MacBook's battery can also be set to turn on Power Saving Mode automatically at a certain charge level, as reported by 9to5 Mac.
Despite being aimed at MacBooks, the feature can also be used on desktop computers to speed up Telegram, which is wonderful for older PCs with less powerful hardware.
Telegram claims that the update also includes bug fixes and performance enhancements in addition to the new mode.
It is important to note that there are two distinct Telegram apps for Mac, and the one that was updated this week, Telegram for macOS, is a version made particularly for the Mac and developed with native technology.
However, Mac users also have the choice to download Telegram Desktop, a cross-platform application that works with Linux, Windows, and macOS.
It is important to note that it costs nothing to download Telegram for macOS from the App Store, but users must have a Mac running macOS 10.12 or later.

Telegram Also Offered New Updates For Telegram Desktop Recently
The rollout of the battery saving feature on the Telegram app for macOS comes after several new upgrades were made recently for the service's desktop version for Windows.
With the most recent update, which brings the app to version 4.6.3, users can now easily create group and profile photographs with animated emoji and stickers by selecting the new Use An Emoji option.
Telegram Desktop 4.6.3 includes features like Chat Translation in addition to enhancing the emoji experience, MS Power User reports.
Because of this, users may instantly translate entire discussions as they read through them or get new messages.
The user can also have additional control over what kinds of media group members can send if they are a Telegram group admin.
Now, developers can enable users to select groups, channels, or contacts fast based on predetermined criteria.
The possibility to open chats or extra accounts in different windows is another practical feature that will be helpful to everyone.
Last month, the ability to hide material by encasing user-sent photographs and videos in a fuzzy cover and setting a custom contact picture was also added to Telegram Desktop.
