Apple Watch Ultra users now have the option to put their watches to the test.
The Cupertino-based tech giant recently announced it is now offering depth and water seal tests for customers with Apple Watch Ultra to help them determine if their watch is still waterproof.
Apple did not mention the cost of such a test, though it will charge customers a replacement fee if the company's Limited Warranty doesn't cover the device.
Apple Depth And Water Seal test Details
Apple mentioned on its support page that users can now request the company to do a Depth and Water Seal Test to determine if their watch's depth gauge and seals are working properly.
As such, those who wish to check if their Watch Ultra's depth gauge and seal are intact and properly functioning after an accident can now do so. People who merely wish to check the functionality of their Watch Ultra's depth gauge can also avail of the test.
To start the test, however, Apple will first have to determine if there are visible cracks or damage to the exterior of a Wach Ultra submitted to them. If the company doesn't find anything, it will proceed to test its system water seals and depth gauge.
Apple warns that customers should avoid availing of the test if their Watch Ultra has visible cracks on the front display or back crystal, as these can allow water to enter and damage their watch, especially if it's subjected to high water pressure.
As such, the company won't accept the device for its Depth and Water Seal Test should there be a visible crack on a Watch Ultra.
Additionally, the company didn't specify whether the test would come at a price to customers who wish to avail of it, according to MacRumors. However, they should expect that Apple will return their device within seven to ten business days if it passes the test.
Furthermore, Apple advises Watch Ultra users that the test may leave their smartwatches inoperable if the test shows that their device has unseen damage or flaw. Should this be the case, Apple may charge users a replacement fee if the device is not covered by the company's Limited Warranty or any applicable consumer protection laws or regulations.
Apple Watch Ultra Underwater Features
Apple mentioned in its announcement for the Watch Ultra that the smartwatch is "designed for water sports," including extreme activities like kitesurfing, wakeboarding, and even recreational scuba diving up to 40 meters with the new Oceanic+ app.
To support these sports, Apple made the Watch Ultra waterproof enough for it to receive WR100 certification, which signifies that the device can withstand pressure up to 100 meters or 33 feet underwater, per Trusted Reviews.
The smartwatch is also certified to EN 13319, an internationally recognized standard for dive accessories, including depth gauges that recreational divers worldwide rely upon.
