Influencers Will No Longer Get Paid for Instagram and Facebook Reels

Influences both on many platforms and exclusively on Reels would be disappointed to know that they will be losing a source of income. Meta is no longer paying content creators for the Reels they post on both Instagram and Facebook.

Removing Monetization

Bore the removal of the compensation, content creators could get thousands of dollars per video depending on the views. It was Meta's way of encouraging users to create more videos to gather more users, and also to compete with the short-form video app, TikTok.

However, Meta is halting its payment incentives for creators who post on Reels for both Facebook and Instagram. This could prove to be a huge loss for influencers seeing as some even get offered bonuses as high as $35,000, as mentioned in Gizmodo.

Even those with huge followings who joined the program in its first year could get paid between $600 to $10,000. Although people who signed up for the bonus deal in the last 30 days would still get their incentive, Meta spokesperson said they would stop extending or renewing deals.

Meta pledged $1 billion in funds for incentivizing Reels with millions of views back in 2022, which helped creators earn from posting on Instagram and Facebook Reels, but even then, the payment features have been changed so many times before, reports say.

Of course, content creators can still earn from the mentioned social media platforms, but they will have to do it in different ways such as advertising in videos, badges, subscriptions, hosting events, promoting brands, and more.

With this change, social media influencers might opt for other platforms that will compensate them for the users they are bringing in. Other platforms like TikTok and YouTube are still paying content creators for their short-form videos, given that they qualify for the programs.

Incentives from Short-Form Videos on Other Platforms

Back in early January 2023, YouTube announced that content creators will start receiving ad revenue for their YouTube shorts starting in February. In fact, some creators have already shared how much they earned for the first month of payment this March.

Influencers can earn from YouTube Shorts through the Partner Program, where they will be required to have at least 1,000 subscribers, and garner over ten million views in the span of 90 days, as mentioned in Engadget.

Creators will also have to create and post original content. That means they can't post clips from movies, TV shows, content from other creators, or content from other platforms. Otherwise, the Shorts would be flagged and they will not get paid for it.

TikTok also has a Creator Fund that gives its eligible creators incentives for every 1,000 views. The payment can go from $0.02 to $0.04. The company allotted $300 million for the Creator Fund program, according to Influencer Marketing Hub. But, creators will have to qualify first.

For one, they must be at least 18 years old to join the program. It is also limited to people based in the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. The minimum number of followers is set to 10,000 and should get at least 100,00 views in the span of 30 days.
