Microsoft publishes full Windows Phone 8 Update 3 (GDR3) changelog - What's new?

Microsoft recently posted a preview of Windows Phone 8 Update 3 and it has now published an official changelog detailing the new features.

Windows Phone Update 3 brings some important new features and changes to Microsoft's smartphone OS. The update is significant and allowed for Nokia and Windows Phone's first phablet, the Lumia 1520. The software update finally brings support for Full HD 1080p screens up to 7 inches, quad-core processors, and more.

Microsoft has posted an official changelog on the Windows Phone site to inform users on what Windows Phone Update 3 includes. Here are some of the new features:

Storage - Users will be able to easily free up storage on their smartphone and see what programs and files are taking up the most space.

Driving Mode - Driving Mode is a new feature that will help keep you safe behind the wheel. You can minimize incoming calls and text messages to avoid distraction and keep your eyes on the road.

Screen - GDR3 adds a rotation lock, which will allow you to decide if you want your screen to rotate when moving your handset around or lock it into place.

Wi-Fi - Users will be able to save cellular data right out of the box, as Update 3 allows them to use Wi-Fi during initial setup of the smartphone.

Internet Sharing - You can now use your Windows Phone's data connection to pair with other devices via Bluetooth to get online.

Bluetooth - Microsoft has added several bug fixes, addressed known issues, and has improved connection with Bluetooth accessories.

Ringtone - You can now assign ringtones to more than just phone calls. Assign custom ringtones to texts, emails, and more so you know who's contacting you without having to look at your smartphone.

App Switcher - Users will now be able to close apps that are running in the background when you're no longer using them. Click the small X located on the app in the App Switcher to completely close the program.
