Adobe is joining the club when it comes to adding generative AI technology to its products. The company has been working on its SenseiAI project for over a decade and now they will be adding it to Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.
Adobe's SenseiAI
Although Adobe has been using AI for a while now for its photo and video editing software, as well as the Sensei AI system for Photoshop and Acrobat, the company announced that it will be releasing new AI features.
What Adobe calls Firefly is a "family of creative generative AI models" which will be able to generate images and font effects. As mentioned in Engadget, artists will be able to use the text-to-image feature to create complex illustrations.
The field where users can type in their prompt has a wide array of generated pieces along with the prompts that led to that outcome. This will give users more options when it comes to choosing what they want to add to their design, as well as exploring more possibilities.
Firefly is capable of generating creative outcomes through audio, video, illustrations, as well as 3D models. Adobe's Digital Media Business and President David Wadhwani said that Adobe will bring generative AI-powered "creative ingredients" with firefly directly to customers' workflows.
He added that generative AI is the next evolution of AI-driven creativity and productivity, making the interactions between the user and the device more natural, intuitive, and powerful. To put it simply, artists can now create art with more assistance from AI.
Since AI learns from already existing photos, Adobe also addressed the subject, saying that the Firefly family is trained using hundreds of millions of images from the company's own stock photo catalog, and will compensate photographers when their photos are used to train the AI.
Sky UK's Head of Digital Decisioning and Analytics Rob McLaughlin expressed that with Sensei, Adobe is drawing a direct link from customer intelligence to personalized experiences that are "valuable and relevant."
Adobe Firefly
Adobe boasts that users can generate extraordinary content with just everyday language using the beta version of Firefly. It can provide users with unlimited creative options, and allow them to create content easily with context-aware image generation.
For illustrations, artwork, and graphic design, users can generate custom vectors, brushes, as well as textures using just words or a sketch. The outcomes can even be edited using the already existing tools found in Adobe's software.
Video editing has also been made more convenient by simplifying the process of changing key details. It's easier to change the mood, atmosphere, and weather. For instance, you can change the background of an image from spring to winter just by typing it in.
This can also be applied to creating posters, banners, or other forms of social posts using a simple text prompt. Adobe plans on applying this for 3D modeling as well, such as generating photorealistic images using simple 3D compositions and creating new styles and variations of it.
