Instagram Users Will See More Ads in Their Search Results

The people from different parts of the globe come to Instagram to discover new brands, interesting products, or upcoming events, Instagram is set to introduce more ad products that will be seen particularly in their search results.

Instagram confirmed directly in their latest blog post that they will be putting more ads in their platform's search results. The social networking platform additionally verified that they started letting companies place ads into their feeds that instantly appear whenever a user taps a certain post in Instagram search results. In addition to forming meaningful connections, the distinct aim of putting ads in the search results is to reach millions of visitors who are actively searching for products, businesses, and content.

However, the placement of ads in Instagrams's search results is subjected to a test in the time being as Instagram plans to promote the new placement globally in the "coming months."

The Ads that Instagram is Planning to Put in Their Search Results

According to The Verge, Shenny Barboza, the company's Spokesperson, said that the ads Instagram will put on their platform's search results are those that fall within their community and recommendation guidelines. Hence, the ads that the users could be seen in search results are those that meet the criteria provided by Instagram.

Aside from the ads in the search results, Instagram also introduced "reminder ads." Reminder ads will show in the feed. The purpose is to let advertisers establish awareness, anticipation, and consideration of upcoming moments. This type of ad sends push notifications to remind the user of an important date or an upcoming event. But Instagram has given their user a choice as to whether they will opt for a reminder ad.

As given in the sample image of Instagram, the reminder ad shows to have a "remind me" option on which the user can click if he or she opted to receive a reminder ad. When the user opted to receive a reminder ad, it automatically occurs three subsequent notifications of that event. The first comes, one day before the event, then 15 minutes before the start time, and finally at the exact start time.

According to Social Media Today, reminders can also be set up to three months ahead of time. And even if the user added a reminder to a significant post, he can create additional posts with reminders of the same event without needing to add new event details.

Instagram Testing Out Additional Ad Options Last Year

Social Media Today in their report last October 2022 highlighted that Instagram added new ads into its platform's Explore Home to test new ad options. The Explore Home or the grid that people see when they first arrive on the Explore tab featured ads to reach people as they discover new contents that pique their interest.

They also began rolling out ads in the profile feed. The ads in the profile feed gave advertisers a greater opportunity to expand their reach easily by using existing feed assets. In turn, this also gives the people the same personalized ad experience they enjoy in their stead.

Instagram also tested out Multi-Advertiser Ads, which allowed businesses to be easily discovered by users after engaging with an ad. Lastly, they also launched an open beta of AR Ads exclusively available in both feeds and Stories.
