Samsung now has a new mid-range phone in its roster.
The South Korea-based company recently announced the Galaxy M54 5G smartphone that boasts a longer-lasting battery, a massive display, and an impressive camera.
However, Samsung made a few downgrades to the phone to still make it affordable for the average joe.
Samsung Galaxy M54 5G Details
Samsung's new Galaxy M54 5G may be quite the looker, but it's unavailable worldwide. According to Phone Arena, the tech giant silently revealed this new mid-range smartphone series exclusively in the Middle East, replacing the affordable Galaxy J phone series in the region.
As such, the M series joins Samsung's other region-exclusive phone series, such as the F series, which is only available in India. However, this exclusivity doesn't mean that it would perform worse than its more accessible siblings.
Samsung Galaxy M54 5G Specifications
Samsung mentioned in its official Galaxy M54 5G webpage that the smartphone has an octa-core CPU with speeds of up to 2Ghz - 2.4 Ghz and a 1080x2400 FHD+ AMOLED main display with a 120HZ refresh rate.
It also has a Mali-G68 MP5 GPU and a 5nm Exynos 1380 chipset, per GSMArena. It has 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage outright, though it could be enhanced with a MicroSD of up to 1TB if needed thanks to its hybrid Dual SIM feature.
However, interested customers should expect that the phone will have an available space of 219.8 to accommodate the Android OS that runs the phone.
Meanwhile, it has three rear cameras consisting of a 108 MP wide camera with an aperture value of f/1.8, an 8MP ultrawide camera with an aperture value of f/2.2, and a 2MP macro camera with an aperture value of f/2,4.
It also has a 32MP front-wide camera with an aperture value of f/2.2. As expected, these cameras perform differently when recording videos: the rear cameras can record 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 30-60fps.
On the other hand, the front cameras can only record 4K and 1080 videos at 30fps.
The Galaxy M5 5G can connect to 5G internet, true to its name, along with Bluetooth v.5.3 and PC Sync. Unlike many of Samsung's offerings, the Galaxy M54 5G has a USB type-C ear jack that doubles as its charging port.
Last but not least is its battery and other features. The Galaxy M545G has a battery capacity of 6000 mAh that could last from 20 to 91 hours, depending on usage. It is also capable of fast charging, allowing users to charge the phone in under an hour if left alone.
It also has an accelerometer, a fingerprint sensor, a gyro sensor, a geomagnetic sensor, a light sensor, and a proximity sensor.
Samsung Galaxy M54 5G Impressions
91Mobiles and Android Authority mentioned that the Galaxy M54 5G is a slightly better version of Samsung's Galaxy A54 5G mid-range phone thanks to its bigger battery capacity. The A545G only has a 5000mAh battery to power it - a 1000 mAh difference from the Galaxy M54 5G.
The 108MP wide camera is an upgrade from the Galaxy A54 5G's 50MP main wide camera. However, Samsung downgraded the other two rear cameras from 12MP and 5MP cameras to 8MP and 2MP cameras, respectively.
