A much-beloved game mode is coming soon for Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Capcom recently announced that Resident Evil 4 Remake's Mercenaries Mode would become available for players as a free DLC for the game in early April.
The mercenaries mode, in its current form, is a long-time favorite of many Resident Evil series fans since its addition to the series through the original 2005 Resident Evil game.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Mode Release Details
Resident Evil 4 Remake doesn't have a Mercenaries game mode at launch since Capcom intended to release it as post-launch content. However, the game developer didn't mention when it would launch the much-beloved game mode and its price if it's paid DLC.
Fortunately, Capcom, through Resident Evil 4 Remake's launch trailer, revealed that the game's Mercenaries Mode would arrive for the game on April 7 as the game's first free DLC, allowing players to comp[lete the base game at their own pace or enjoy playing it to the fullest for some time before trying out the new game mode.
Like the original 2005 game and the ones that came after it, Resident Evil 4 Remake's players have to unlock its Mercenaries Mode by successfully completing it once, though it is unclear what the game mode includes at this point, per Destructoid.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Mode Content
Much like the original 2005 game, Resident Evil 4's mercenaries Mode is a multiplayer mode that lets players eliminate hostile BOWs in a particular area within a set but extendable period. Each confirmed kill and hourglass collected prolongs the game mode, allowing more BOWs to spawn and attack players.

However, the game spawns more powerful BOWs in waves as the game goes on until time runs out or the players are defeated. Once the round ends, the game ranks players based on how long they managed to survive and the number of BOWs they killed.
A good enough score unlocks either a new character to play as in the game, or new map to lay the Mercenaries Mode on, or both. However, Capcom has yet to reveal the playable characters and maps for Resident Evil 4 Remake's Mercenaries Mode.
If the original 2005 game has anything to go by, Ada Wong, Albert Wesker, Jack Krauser, and even HUNK could appear as playable characters in the game mode with game protagonist Leon S. Kennedy.
It is possible that game antagonists could join in the fray like in Resident Evil Village. As such, it is unclear if Ramon Salazar, Osmund Saddler, and Chief Menendez could be playable in the game. It is also possible that Luis Sera will be playable, considering that he is also handy with a gun.
Here's hoping that Albert Wesker and HUNK are among the playable characters in Resident Evil 4 Remake's Mercenaries Mode roster despite either barely appearing in the game or not appearing at all. HUNK's neck breaker is one of the best melee attacks in the game, while Wesker's moveset lets players taste the power of the virus within the popular series antagonist.
