Microsoft Teams will be faster and more user-friendly than ever, as the Redmond tech giant announced the new updates and features that the users can expect once the revamped app arrives in June. The new Teams is said to perform twice as fast compared to the current version, which should cut the app launching time and the time to join a video call by half. The amazing part of the upgrade is that the new Teams will be running with 50 percent less memory.
New Teams to Perform Two Times Faster While Taking Up 50 Percent Less Memory; Features Improved User Interface
According to a blog update from Microsoft, the new Teams is expected to release in June 2023, as the company is still testing the upgrades to be applied on the messaging app. Microsoft shall also consider the feedback received from the customers who participated in the preview stage.
Jeff Teper, President of Collaborative Apps and Platforms at Microsoft, takes pride in the new Teams as it is "built on a foundation of speed, performance, flexibility, and intelligence." Teper also said that the new app will perform two times faster while only requiring 50% less memory.
Aside from faster performance and improved efficiency, the new Teams will also receive "game-changing new AI-powered experiences." This includes the Copilot for Microsoft Teams, which was already announced earlier this month.
Furthermore, Microsoft said that the new Teams will offer a better user experience by making the design simpler and putting "everything in one place." As reported by PCWorld, the Big Tech is bringing significant changes to Teams' user interface, including a new design that many Teams users have long been asking for.
Specifically, the new Teams will scrap the "chat-like model" where the conversations are displayed in separate threads. Microsoft admitted that this model confused many users, and that is why they are working on a new interface to "adopt a post-and-reply experience" at the top of the conversations.

New Teams Redesign to Improve PC Performance; Introduces AI Features for Better User Experience
While there is a chance that users may not feel the performance upgrade in the new Teams, Microsoft said that their computers will feel the benefits of the improvement. As the redesign cuts the app's memory usage by half, the PC should run faster than it used to. Microsoft also said that the disk space occupied by the app will decrease by around 70 percent, as per Bleeping Computer.
Going to the AI department of the new Teams, the full extent of the app's AI features is not yet known, aside from the user support from the AI-powered Copilot. However, PCWorld reported that users will be able to message the Bing chatbot to ask questions and perform simple tasks like summarizing conversations. Microsoft promised that there will be more AI capabilities in the new Teams, like asking the AI to identify relevant parts of the conversation and creating a brief to-do list out of a lengthy message from a boss or co-worker.
