Discord is the ideal app to use to connect with your friends online while doing fun activities together. It is specifically designed for users to communicate seamlessly over text, voice and video. Hence, Discord has become the top choice for groups of gamers to communicate with their teammates while playing. A gamer can also find a party on Discord's live gaming lobbies.
Discord is available on Windows, Linux, macOS, Android and iOS platforms. As for PlayStation 5 users, the good news is that the app has recently become available on Sony's gaming console. Before, players would still need to use a PC to access Discord during the game. Now, PS5 users can enjoy chatting with their friends seamlessly via Discord while playing with their teammates.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use Discord on PS5 without PC.
1. Update Your PlayStation 5
Before you can have the access to Discord integration in your PS5, you need to update your console. Usually, the most recent update file should appear on startup. If not, then there are no new updates. However, you should check if your PS5 is connected to the Internet to make sure that there are indeed no new updates.
To initiate the PS5 update, go to the Settings menu in the top right corner of the screen. Scroll down to reach the System tab. Go to "System Software," then to "System Software Update and Settings." Select "Update System Software," which should start the update either via USB or online connection, as per GameRant.
2. Give Permission to PS5
Discord will not work on your PS5 with the default privacy settings enabled since the default settings should prevent other players from monitoring your activities. Hence, you should permit to use Discord on the console. To do this, open Settings, then go to "Users and Accounts." Click on "Privacy," then "View and Customize Your Privacy Settings." Scroll down the page to see "Your Activity." From here, choose "Anyone" on "Who can see your online status and what you're currently playing."

3. Link a PlayStation Network Account to Discord
To use Discord's feature on PS5, you must first link a PlayStation Network Account to the app. Upon going to Discord, look for "User Settings," then "Connections." Click on the PlayStation logo, then you will be taken to the PlayStation website. From here, sign in with your PlayStation Network account, then connect it to your Discord account, as per PC Guide.
Those who have already linked their PlayStation Network and Discord accounts before the latest update should click the small "X" to disconnect and then reconnect the accounts. Afterwards, select "Connections" under the PlayStation tab to get the option to grant voice permissions.
4. Transfer Voice to PS5
After establishing the connection between your PlayStation and Discord, and granting permission to use Discord on your console, you can now join voice channels of your choice using any mobile device. In the channel, click the names in the sidebar to go to full screen mode. Scroll up for the settings, and then you should see an option that says "Join on PlayStation."
If you are using desktop, just follow the steps for the mobile device in order to make the call full screen. Click on the icon of the phone in the lower left, near the "Invite" button. Afterwards, select "Transfer to PlayStation" to enable voice integration on your PlayStation 5.
