Rumors about the Nexus 5 are kicking into overdrive. We've seen the smartphone appear in numerous leaks. We know that there will be 16GB and 32GB versions and will it also be offered in choice of black or white. Google "accidentally" posted an image of the handset and some details on the Play Store before quickly removing it. The handset has made appearances on Sprint's website and has also been spotted with TELUS branding for Canadians.
The latest report on the elusive KitKat-powered smartphone claims that just like the Nexus 4, T-Mobile will begin selling the Nexus 5 on the same day Google makes the handset available for purchase on the Play Store. A Redditor reportedly spoke to a T-Mobile Manager about the company's plans when it comes to the Nexus 5. According to the Manager, T-Mobile will definitely be carrying the Nexus 5. When asked for a timeline of "same day" or "few weeks", the Manager said "same day," likely referring to the same day the smartphone goes on sale on Google Play. When it comes to the reported price, the tipster claims T-Mobile's Nexus 5 will be a little more expensive (just as the Nexus 4 was) compared to the Play Store's price.
There are rumors that Google may announce the Nexus 5 on Halloween and do some kind of tie-in with Nestle for promotion. We have a pretty good idea of what to expect when the Nexus 5 is officially announced. The smartphone is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD IPS display with a pixel density of 442 pixels per inch (ppi) and be the first device to launch with Android 4.4 KitKat. It is expected to be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The handset will include an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. The smartphone's wireless capabilities are expected to include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, and GPS. The Nexus 5 will be offered in 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants and use a 2,300mAh battery.
