Sprint customers looking to buy a Moto X will be able to customize the smartphone using the Moto Maker service starting on Nov. 11.
One of the Moto X's best features is its ability to be customizable using Motorola's Moto Maker service. You can choose the back, front, and accent colors of the smartphone instead of its standard black or white color. This service has only been available to AT&T customers since the Moto X launched back in August. We recently told you that Verizon Moto X customers would be getting access to Moto Maker in November and it now seems that Sprint will gain access to the service on the same day as Verizon.
Android Central is reporting that it has received a tip, with an image taken from Sprint's internal Playbook. The image reveals that Motorola will launch its Moto Maker service on Sprint on Nov. 11, allowing customers to customize their Moto X smartphone. Sprint customers will have over 2,000 possible customization options. These options include back color, memory, power on, wallpaper, Google sync, and accessories.
The Sprint Moto X features a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED HD display and is powered by a custom dual-core 1.7Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with Motorola's X8 Computing System and an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU). The smartphone ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and is expected to receive an update to Android 4.3 in the near future. The handset includes 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM.
Other specs include a 10-megapixel rear camera with the ability to record 1080p video, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. When it comes to connectivity, the Moto X comes with a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. Motorola has also packed a 2,200 mAh battery that offers excellent battery life.
Since Sprint and Verizon customers will soon be able to customize the look of their Moto X, this should help sales of the smartphone on both carriers. The Moto X was heavily promoted as being user customizable, but that privilege was only extended to AT&T customers, forcing Sprint and Verizon to offer a standard black or white color choice. We'll have to wait to hear the official word from Sprint and Verizon, but it looks like Nov. 11 could be the day that both carriers offer the Moto X the way it should have been at launch.
