Verizon has announced its own-brand Ellipsis tablet. The budget slate is the first of a new family of products from Verizon.
The carrier already supports many popular tablets such as Apple's latest iPad Air, the upcoming iPad mini with Retina display, Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and more. Verizon has decided to start offering its very own tablet that it claims will be the first product in an upcoming family of Ellipsis products. The Verizon Ellipsis 7 has been designed to offer Verizon customers an affordable 7-inch tablet that runs on the carrier's 4G LTE network and will retail for $249.99 starting on Nov. 7.
"The new Verizon Ellipsis 7 tablet offers users another option when shopping for a new fully featured tablet at an affordable price. Exclusive to Verizon Wireless, this compact tablet has a 7-inch HD screen and is easy to carry. Readers can download e-books using the Amazon Kindle App, and because of its size, the Ellipsis 7 is ideal to hold with one hand. Entertainment seekers, on the other hand, can use RedBox Instant by Verizon to watch their favorite movies when they are traveling, at the gym, or at home when someone else is using the TV," touted Verizon.
The Verizon Ellipsis 7 features a 7-inch HD IPS (in plane switching) display and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The Ellipsis 7 includes 8GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 32GB microSD cards to further increase its storage.
Its camera capabilities include a 3.2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front facing shooter for video chatting. Its wireless connectivity options support 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. There is no mention of what size the tablet's battery will be.
Verizon will begin selling the Ellipsis 7 online and in its retail stores beginning on Nov. 7 with a $249.99 retail price. The carrier has announced that for a limited time, customers can get $100 off any tablet, including the Ellipsis 7, when purchasing a tablet with a new 2-year contract.
