Motorola plans on opening up the AT&T-exclusive Moto Maker service to more U.S. carriers this month. T-Mobile will reportedly get access on Nov. 8.
When Motorola launched the Moto X it brought an unprecedented service to the smartphone game. The company announced that consumers would be able to purchase the its latest smartphone and customize it in ways that no other manufacturer had ever allowed. You would be able to pick out the colors of the front and back of the Moto X, choose the accent colors used on the volume rocker, power button, and around the rear camera. Motorola would also sell the smartphone in a standard choice of white or black for those who didn't want to design their own smartphone. It was soon revealed that this very cool service would be an AT&T exclusive.
We just reported that Verizon and Sprint are going to get access to Moto Maker on Nov. 11 and both carriers' customers will be able to customize their Moto X to their heart's desire. The very reliable evleaks is now reporting that T-Mobile will get access to Moto Maker a few days ahead of Verizon and Sprint. T-Mobile customers looking to design their own Moto X will reportedly be able to do so on Nov. 8.
The Moto X features a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED HD display and is powered by a custom dual-core 1.7Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with Motorola's X8 Computing System and an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU).The Moto X ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but is expected to get an update to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future.
The smartphone includes 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. The rear camera has a 10-megapixel sensor and can record 1080p video, while its front-facing camera has a 2-megapixel shooter for video chat. When it comes to connectivity, the Moto X comes with a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. Motorola has also included a 2,200 mAh battery that offers excellent battery life.
T-Mobile customers can purchase the Moto X through Motorola (the carrier does not sell the smartphone in stores or online) for $599.99 in choice of Woven Black or Woven White. In just a few days, however, users may get the full Moto X experience by being able to customize the handset to their liking.
