Amazon has recently announced that they will bring over 100 Amazon original series from Prime Video to their ad-supported free streaming service known as Amazon Freevee (previously known as IMDb TV).
The various Prime video originals will be released throughout 2023. Amazon plans to launch new Amazon Original TV shows and movies to the free streaming service every month.
Freevee Entices More People to Subscribe
Amazon was dedicated to capturing the audience that often looks within the free-streaming market by rebranding IMBb TV into Freevee.
To capture more attention from the public, Amazon plans to release a few episodes for Freevee to watch for free. However, the shows will not be offered in full but will serve to tempt viewers to subscribe to Amazon Prime Video for all the TV show episodes.
Advertisements in the videos available in Freevee will likely become an issue, so viewers can subscribe to Amazon Prime Videos for $14.99 per month to access videos without ads. Moving their videos to Freevee allows more Amazon Originals to reach more eyeballs and with more fans and subscribers, Amazon gains more money in their pocket.
Freevee became more well-known due to the viral hit "Jury Duty," which Amazon says has over 200 million views on TikTok for the hashtag #JuryDutyonFreevee. Freevee allows people to sample Amazon's Prime Videos before buying a subscription to the premium platform to watch the full series of popular shows, not only Jury Duty, but also The Wheel of Time, Judy Justice, Sprung, and so on.
Amazon Freevee is a standalone app you can download on your phone. You can also download them on your Apple TV, Google TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, gaming consoles, and smart TVs, and can also be found on the Amazon Prime Video App.

In May, Amazon plans to release the first three episodes of Paper Girls, Goliath, The Tick, and The Terminal List. However, some titles will be fully available for streaming like Homecoming, The Vast of Night, and Upload.
Other shows that may join Freevee, later on, include Bosch: Legacy, Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis, America's Test Kitchen: The Next Generation, and Uninterrupted's Top Class: The Life and Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.
Currently, Freevee has over 250 free-ad-supported (FAST) channels in the US, with thematically programmed channels focusing on TV shows and movies. It also has exclusive Original channels from Prime Video and syndicated channels with partners like PickleTV, FOX Weather, Vevo, and more.
Amazon says that this will expand its FAST offering by up to 75% by the end of 2023. Note that Freevee is only available in the UK, US, Germany, and Austria.
