Disney is bringing the magical world of "Frozen" to life.
The popular mass media conglomerate recently announced it would soon open a "Frozen"-themed attraction this fall that has Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Sven make the jump from the big screen to real life.
While Arrendelle (or an approximation, at least) is now reachable, people may have to travel farther than expected to visit its snowy locale.
Disney Frozen Attraction Details
Disney mentioned that its new, upcoming "Frozen" attraction would feature Elsa's Ice Palace and Anna's Arendelle abode alongside a village and forest area leading up to the Ice Queen's palace, per Gizmodo.
These locales are allegedly a recreation of the Kingdom of Arendelle utilizing the natural landscape of Lantau Mountain behind Hong Kong Disneyland as a backdrop, per Disney Parks' blog post. Disney hopes that this recreation would evoke a sense of being in the actual Arendelle, where guests can step into the cinematic scenes from the "Frozen" movies.
If the castles and palaces weren't enough to get you singing "For the First Time in Forever," the attractions will. Visitors can enjoy a revamped Frozen Ever After boat ride featuring various real-life scale animatronics, such as Elsa, and the Wandering Oaken Sliding Sleighs, a family-friendly but thrilling coaster.
Interestingly, Disney Tourist Blog mentioned that the Wandering Oaken Sliding Sleighs was supposed to be a clone of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, which would have been a bummer if it hadn't changed.
However, people insterested in experiencing these attractions and rides would need to travel to Hong Kong Disneyland to do so; most of what we just mentioned are not exclusive to this Disney Park, the Wandering Oaken Sliding Sleighs are.
Unfortunately, there is no word of an exact launch date for the "Frozen"-themed attraction in Hong Kong Disneyland other than the fact that it may launch this coming Fall, specifically Nov. 2023. If you're not keen on traveling to Hong Kong, Tokyo DisneySea's New Fantasyland and Disneyland Paris's second gate Walt Disney Studios are already constructing their own "Frozen"-themed attraction.
Regardless, having a "Frozen"-themed attraction could help Disney recover from its financial recession since its opening is smack dab in the middle of two prominent holidays - The Christmas season and Halloween.
Disney's Financial Troubles
Disney, much like the tech giants and other media companies, is suffering from the effects of various economic uncertainties and the ongoing recession.
Returning Disney CEO Bob Iger recently announced that Disney+ subscriptions for ad-free and ad-supported tiers would increase more than $11 and $8, respectively. Meanwhile, the company had to let go of thousands of employees to offset company expenditures, with it followed by a third round, which could happen anytime soon.
Disney Entertainment co-chairs Alan Bergman and Dana Walden recognized the difficult times ahead, calling them a "period of uncertainty' but assured the public that the company's senior leadership teams have been working diligently to "define our future organization."
