Samsung’s Next Galaxy Watch Could Come With a Rotating Bezel

Samsung's next Galaxy Watch will have a rotating bezel.

The next smartwatch offering from the Korean tech giant, the Galaxy Smartwatch 6, will allegedly feature a rotating bezel once more, bringing back a much-beloved feature from the smartwatch lineup.

Samsung previously decided to remove the rotating bezel from its latest smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 5, in exchange for a longer battery life, per a 2022 SamMobile report.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Design Details

Samsung took a different approach with its Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatch. While it retained many of the features its predecessors showcased, the company decided to remove the rotating bezel for an enhanced design and a longer battery life, per Android Police.

According to an Aug. 2022 Tech Crunch article, Samsung allegedly sacrificed the rotating bezel - a Galaxy Watch staple since the first of its kind - for a sleeker design. Whatever the case is, some want Samsung to re-add the removed feature to their smartwatches.

It would seem that Samsung listened to its customers; information from @OnLeaks and MySmartPrice revealed that Samsung would do just that and more for the Classic and Pro versions of its Galaxy Watch 6 lineup.

According to the leaks, which are CAD-based 3D renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, it will feature a rotating bezel, and its design is reminiscent of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. Slightly thick bezels surround Its circular display, while the left edge is flush and the right houses the home and back buttons.

SamMobile's report on the leak mentioned that the smartwatch's backside features hate rate and PPG (Photoplethysmography) sensors.

The images also show that the smartwatch would have a magnetic loop strap attached, meaning users could purchase the Galaxy Watch 6 with a different-colored strap.

Other features that Samsung Galaxy Watch fans should look forward to include a 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display with 470x470 pixel resolution (bigger than the Watch 5 Pro) and a larger battery than the Galaxy Watch 5. The leak reveals that the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic might come equipped with a 425mAh battery, a significant improvement over the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic's 361mAh battery.

Finally, the watch could feature a barometer, body composition analysis, ECG, gyro, heart rate sensor, GPS, and more.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Release Date

Based on @OnLeaks' information, Samsung could introduce its Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatch lineup later in 2023 at the upcoming Unpacked 2023 event. They mentioned that Samsung would reveal the smartwatch to the world alongside its foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

Unfortunately, @Onleaks was unable to confirm the smartwatch's launch details. Nevertheless, the laker's credibility is good, as Android Authority noted; there could be some truth to their leaks and revelation, at the very least.

Samsung's upcoming Unpacked event is rumored to take place within the final week of July, then when exactly and at what time is still up for debate.
