Faraday Future's (FF) first-ever electric vehicle has arrived.
The California-based automaker recently announced it had officially launched its long-delayed FF 91 EV to the public, along with a limited edition that comes with a hefty price tag for those who can afford it.
FF previously unveiled the FF 91 EV during CES 2017 following numerous efforts to hype customers up about its first EV.
FF 91 EV Features, Specifications
FF mentioned in its announcement that it is launching two models of its FF 91 EV - the FF 91 2.0 Futurist and the limited edition FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliance. Both EVs have almost the exact same specifications, though they differ in features.
Both cars come equipped with three electric motors making 1,050 horsepower, 1,458 pound-feet (1977Nm) of torque, and a 142kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Thanks to these specifications, with the last two being the largest in class, the car can reach an EPA-certified range of 381 miles - the farthest in class.
The FF 91's effective range puts it between a Tesla Model S and a Model Y - the car can go farther than a Model Y but not as far as a Model S, per Engadget.
The FF 91's official webpage revealed that its motors could accelerate the car from 0 to 60 mph in 2.39 secs., thanks to the car's hardware. Interestingly, the company noted that the FF 91 cars take the top spot in an acceleration-to-weight ratio of 0.78, which allegedly surpasses traditional and competing electric vehicles alike.
As for the cars' interiors, both have the same "zero gravity" seats that come with a large recline angle for comfort and 27-inch rear passenger displays.
The difference between the two models is that the limited edition Futurist Alliance comes with unique 22-inch wheels, an Apple Watch loaded with an app to control the car's functions, a day of performance driving instruction at a race track, and some level of personalization for the on-board AI assistant, per Autoblog.
The Futurist Alliance will also be available in three colors exclusive to the model, which include bright silver, matte silver, and matte black. Interestingly, the first 91 Futurist Alliance users will receive a high-speed internet satellite communication suite that will come with free upgrades and installation when available.
FF 91 Pricing, Availability
Although deliveries of the first models are still unclear, FF stated that the FF 91 2.0 Futurist would come with a $249,000 - the same price as Lucid Motors' Air Sapphire. Meanwhile, FF will only produce 300 Futuristic Alliance models and put a $309,000 price tag on it to further justify the limited-edition tag.
The automaker has reopened reservations for the two vehicle models in the US and China, with the Futurist requiring a $1,500 deposit, while the limited edition Futurist Alliance will need a $5,000 deposit.
FF will also sell the base model of its FF 91 2.0 vehicles, though its specifications, features, and pricing remains unclear as of press time.
