The Nintendo Switch is getting more colorful.
Nintendo recently announced it is launching its new, pastel-colored Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch in late June, giving more color to its handheld gaming console for players to appreciate.
For those unaware, the Nintendo Switch's standard Joy-Con controllers are blue (left) and red (right) and grey.
Nintendo Switch Pastel-Colored Joy-Cons Details
Nintendo Joy-Con controllers have seen some unique colors painted onto them before, from the standard red and blue and original grey to the more recent neon colors in Sept. 2022, per iMore. There are even themed color combinations and designs inspired by many Nintendo first-party titles, such as Splatoon 3, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, and original characters like Mario, Pikachu, and Eevee.
However, this round of new colors may be a welcome surprise for Switch users that are fans of soft pastel colors for the summer.
According to Nintendo's announcement, it is releasing four soft pastel-colored Joy-Con controllers for Switch users to enjoy while playing their favorite games on the handheld gaming console. These colors include Pastel Pink, Yellow, Purple, and Green.
A quick look at the Nintendo Store and one would see that the Pastel Yellow and Pink are paired together while Pastel Purple and Green are with each other; all of them come with black Joy-Con wrist straps that are the norm for the Switch's Joy-Con controllers.
As for their features, the Pastel-colored Joy-Con controllers come with easy-to-use motion controls and HD rumble - Nintendo's haptic feedback engine hidden inside the Switch's Joy-Con controllers, per Game Rant. While these features may sound new, the only difference between these new controllers and the standard ones is the colors alone.
For those unaware, the Switch's Joy-Con controllers can be used together for single-player games like Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or as separate controllers for multiplayer games like Super Mario Kart. Games like Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga require two pairs of Joy-Con controllers to be played as an offline cooperative multiplayer game.
Nintendo Switch Pastel-Colored Joy-Cons Price, Availability
As always, the new, pastel-colored Joy-Con controllers are available for purchase directly from Nintendo through the official online Nintendo Store. They are set for release in North America on June 30 for $79.99 per pair.
Unfortunately, pre-ordering these controllers is not possible due to them being non-limited edition controllers; opening the controllers' webpage would show that they are already "sold out" as of press time.
The only available colors as of the writing of this article are the standard red and blue, neon purple and neon orange, and Neon Pink and Neon Green combinations. Customers can purchase these Joy-Con controllers to help them stand out in the crowd and personalize their Nintendo Switch further or just collect them for fun.
Regardless, these colors breathe new life into the handheld gaming console's aesthetic, considering that Nintendo released the device in 2017.
