Samsung may be preparing to launch its next Galaxy Unpacked event.
The popular tech giant recently released a statement revealing the schedule of its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which could focus more on its new foldable phones.
Samsung typically holds multiple Unpacked events each year; the company already had one such event in Feb. 2023.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event Details
Samsung mentioned in a now-deleted statement that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place in Seoul, South Korea, for the first time sometime in late July. According to 9to5Google, the event will take place at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam.
The company added that the event will focus on its foldable phones like other recent summer Unpacked events; TM Roh, Samsung's president and head of its mobile experience business, mentioned that the company's foldable category showcases its philosophy of delivering "innovation that pushes boundaries to reshape the future of mobile experiences," per The Verge.
He also said that having the event in Seoul holds great significance as it is an up-and-coming city of innovation and culture and the foldable phone category. This reason holds true to why Samsung wants to hold the event in Seoul - it wants to hold future Galaxy unpacked events in cities that "closely align with the designated theme of each event."
A rumor spread in May mentioned that Samsung's second Galaxy Unpacked event could happen on July 26, though it is possible that Samsung could schedule it sometime before or after such a date. Regardless, it is earlier than usual for Samsung to hold such an event in 2023; the event took place in August 2022, with the company revealing details about the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4.
What To Expect In Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked Event
As the focus of the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event is about foldable phones, it is probable that Samsung will officially introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 during the vent, showcasing their features and the waterdrop-type display hinge that wouldn't leave less of a crease on both phones and allow them to fold completely flat when closed without any gaps.
You may remember that Samsung is reportedly planning on using such a display hinge for its upcoming foldable phones in early 2023 since it had allegedly solved the waterproofing problem the hinge came with in the past. However, it still lacks a dust resistance rating, which means that the phone is vulnerable to dust or other fine particles like sand, according to Reactual.
Whether Samsung will reveal information about the foldable phones' resistance to dust is unclear. Aside from that, Samsung could also reveal information about its other upcoming devices like the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Watch 6, new earbuds, and a new smart tracker.
With Samsung deleting the announcement it made, it is possible we will learn more about the event's schedule and lineup in the coming days as late July approaches.
