Do you worry about strangers approaching your house when you're away? Or perhaps you've experienced the frustration of having a package stolen from your front door with no evidence to report. These incidents can be distressing and invade our sense of security.

In this article, we will review the ieGeek Battery Camera ZS-GX1S. This camera is a great choice for those who are looking for an affordable and reliable solar powered PTZ camera.

PROS

Battery & Solar Powered

1. One of the features I like about this camera is that it uses battery power and does not require a power source. It can be charged via the included solar panel, or it can be plugged into a USB charger using a standard USB cable. I find that it doesn't need to be charged very often. Battery usage depends on the amount of motion detected and the length of video captured. As long as I have an available wifi signal, this will allow me to install a camera on my property. I use a mesh network with multiple access points so I can cover a wide area outdoors of my home very well. Not having to power this camera is a definite plus!

Color Night Vision

2. Easy to set up using the CloudEdge app on your phone. Using the app on your phone, you can configure motion detection and video recording. There are three options for nighttime: Smart Vision (turn on warm light at night for full color when motion is detected), full color night vision (turn on warm light when you view the camera at night), and black and white night vision (use only IR lights).

Sound and Light Alarm

3. For alarm management, you can set the motion detection sensitivity and the amount of video to record when motion is detected. You can set the time period for the alarm to activate. You can also specify the visual area as the alarm area. Only motion detected in this area will trigger an alarm. Alerts can be silent (video and picture recording only), or you can set audio warnings and flash alerts (nighttime only).

Support Alexa

4. Instructions are provided in the app on how to connect the camera so it can link to Amazon Alexa. Once that is done, you can ask Alexa to "show *** camera on TV". Alexa can then display the video from the camera on your Alexa-controlled TV. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work, and sometimes the connection is disabled.

Two Way Audio

5.The camera has a microphone that can record audio. There is also a speaker so you can activate the speaker and use the app to make calls. The speaker volume and sound quality are OK, but not the best.

Customer Service

6. ieGeek's after-sales service is very good, the response is very timely, encountered problems, they quickly help me solve.

CONS

Digital Zoom

1. The zoom is a digital zoom. It is not an optical zoom. If you zoom too much, the picture becomes blurry.

Only Supports 2.4Ghz WiFi

2. This security camera only supports 2.4Ghz WiFi, if the camera is more than 100FT away from the router, the signal will become unstable and sometimes drop.

Video Recording

3. The motion detection video does not get pushed to the app/phone, only a screenshot of the recorded video gets pushed to the app. To view the recorded video, you will have to click on the arrow => on the left side of the image. It takes pretty long to pull the video from the SD card to the app for review.

But all in all, the ZS-GX1S is a camera with more pros than cons, If you're worried about the security of your home but are hesitant to invest in an expensive security system. Look no further!
