Verizon has officially announced that it will begin selling the Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT 8.1 tablet on Nov. 21.
The carrier has added the Nokia Lumia 2520 to its lineup of 4G LTE tablets because it believes that consumers want a PC experience of using a desktop and laptop delivered into something as portable as a tablet. The Nokia Lumia 2520 provides a "PC experience" since it runs Windows RT 8.1 and comes with Microsoft Office 2013 Home and Student and Outlook RT Edition pre-installed. It's the familiar feel of Windows in a thin and light tablet.
The Lumia 2520 also comes with Nokia-exclusive applications, such as the company's award-winning HERE Maps application, which allows you to pre-plan trips and keep yourself from getting lost especially when travelling during the holiday season. Nokia has also included a high-end 6.7-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia Storyteller app that allows you to keep all your images in order and grouped by locations and events. Windows RT 8.1 also allows access to Xbox Live for games, movies, music and more.
The Verizon Nokia Lumia 2520 features a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD ClearBlack IPS LCD display with a pixel density of 219 pixels per inch (ppi). The tablet runs Windows RT 8.1, is powered by a quad-core 2.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and packs 2GB of RAM. It includes 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 32GB of additional memory.
Its camera capabilities include a 6.7-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, digital 4x zoom and auto focus, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat. Users will also find a USB 3.0 port, 4G LTE radio, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and a non-removable 8,000 mAh battery. Verizon will offer the Lumia 2520 in a choice of black or red.
The Nokia Lumia 2520 will go on sale in Verizon retail stores on Nov. 21 and will be priced at $499.99, the carrier announced. For a limited time, customers can get the Lumia 2520 for $399.99 when purchased with a new 2-year contract.
