If you were lucky enough to score a Nexus 5, congratulations. You'll be happy to know Google has just released some official accessories.
Google had a reputation of announcing new Nexus smartphones and showing off some cool accessories that either never actually shipped, or became available months after originally announced. The company has taken some heat from Nexus fans who got tempted by cool accessories, only to see them ship more than 6 months late. Not this time around.
This year, Google has added three new Nexus 5 accessories to the Google Play Store and one of them will even work with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2013), in addition to the Nexus 5. The Nexus Wireless Charger will work with all three devices and is offered for $49.99. It's currently in stock and ships within 1 - 2 business days.
There is an LG QuickCover for Nexus 5, which features a custom-fit unibody case that has a matte finish to protect your smartphone from scratches. The case also allows quick access to the basic UI of the handset without needing to swipe to unlock. The cover can also be attached and work with the Nexus Wireless Charger. The LG QuickCover is priced at $49.99 and comes in a choice of black or white. It's currently in stock and ships in 1 - 2 business days.
The Nexus 5 Bumper Case offers stylish protection, featuring a hard outer shell and a soft rubber lining on the inside, which will absorb shocks and protect your Nexus 5. This Bumper Case also works with the Nexus Wireless Charger, so you won't have to remove the smartphone from its case every time you want to charge, like with some other accessories. The case is available for $34.99 and comes in choice of black, gray, bright red, and bright yellow. As of now only bright red and bright yellow are in stock and ready to ship. The black and gray case have a message of "coming soon."
With the Nexus 5 in such high demand, it's great to see Google have accessories in a timely fashion this time around.
