Disney Plus subscribers are getting a new way to enjoy "Hamilton!"

Disney recently announced it is adding the hit Broadway musical's sing-along version to its streaming service's catalog, allowing families to enjoy and sing along to the story of one of the Founding Fathers at home.

Disney's addition of "Hamilton!" comes days before the Fourth of July weekend.

'Hamilton!' Disney Plus Addition Details

Dinsey mentioned in its announcement that it is releasing a sing-along version of "Hamilton!" on Disney Plus on June 30, just in time for the Fourth of July weekend and the three-year anniversary of the hit Broadway musical's debut on Disney Plus.

According to the mass media conglomerate, it released the theatrical version of "Hamilton!" worldwide on July 3, 2020, during the first summer of the COVID-19 pandemic, when people are still mandated to stay in their homes, giving them more reason to watch the release, per Collider. The 11-time Tony Award-, Grammy Award-, Olivier Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning stage musical features quite the cast, all of them award-winning.

According to Mashable, the musical's sing-along version is similar to that of Diney's previous sing-along movies - the lyrics will change color and a bouncing star to help viewers follow and sing along with the musical's songs, which is a blend of hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway.

As a result, Disney Plus subscribers can sing along with "Hamilton's" award-winning cast for the entirety of its three-hour run time. Fans can look forward to singing like Lin-Manuel Miranda (Alexander Hamilton), Daveed Diggs (Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), and Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler).

Interestingly, "Hamilton!" is the latest musical to get a sing-along version of Disney Plus, with it joining movies like "Frozen," "Frozen II," "Into the Woods," "Mary Poppins Returns," and the animated and live-action versions of "Beauty and the Beast."

The musical's sing-along release comes at an opportune time - the Fourth of July weekend is just around the corner as of press time; those who wish for some patriotic fun can enjoy the story of one of the Founding Fathers in the form of song and dance.

Disney Plus' Future

"Hamilton's!" sing-along version follows Disney's plans to merge Disney Plus' content with Hulu's to form a US-limited "one-experience app" sometime before 2023 ends. This app serves as an opportunity to serve both advertisers and subscribers, giving subscribers a "more unified streaming experience" by having flagship content from one streamer present on the other.

According to returning Disney CEO Bob Iger, the move is a "logical progression" of its direct-to-consumer offers and will provide greater opportunities for advertisers while giving bundle subscribers access to "more robust and streamlined content."

"Hamilton's" sing-along addition to Disney Plus also comes as Disney increases its subscription price for its streaming service's ad-free and ad-supported tiers. Although he didn't say when the increase would become effective, he did reveal that they would cost more than $11 and $8, respectively.
