Celebrate the Fourth of July by staying safe (digitally and physically)!
PlaySide Studios recently announced it is launching its first Fourth of July limited-time event (LTE) for its latest game, Dumb Ways to Die 4, which adds event-related minigames for players to be careful on.
The popular video game developer globally released Dumb Ways to Die 4 for mobile devices on May 2, per Gaming on Phone.
Dumb Ways to Die 4 Fourth of July LTE Details
The Dumb Ways to Die mobile game series, especially the original 2012 game that started it all, saw its popularity and success surge as the top trend on TikTok. Thanks to this, Australia-based PlaySide Studios developed and released Dumb Ways to Die 4, which contains over 60 minigames spread across various locations and surroundings for players to enjoy and be careful on.
Not much has changed between the 2012 game and the fourth entry in the series - players will still need to act quickly to keep the beans safe from harm and prevent them from doing dumb things that would get them killed.
However, there are some additions to the game to make it unique from its predecessors: players can rebuild the Beans' fictional world of Beanville and free some memorable Beans along the way.
With the Fourth of July weekend and Independence Day just around the corner, PlaySide Studios decided to make the event and summer just a bit dumber with the release of Dumb Ways to Die 4's Fourth of July LTE, which introduces three new freedom-inspired minigames, per PlaySide Studios' announcement.
Players can look forward to tapping and swiping the Beans free from the dangers of fireworks, barbecues, and hotdogs. While the official trailer doesn't reveal much about the minigames being added to the game during the event, we can see that players must put burger patties on the grill, light up fireworks, and not mistake venomous snakes for hotdogs.
People interested in playing the game download it from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for free to experience the game and the three LTE minigames.
Coincidentally, the Fourth of July LTE also comes as PlaySide Studios celebrate another major milestone for Dumb Ways to Die 4 - players have played more than 50 million minigames since the game's release!
How Did Dumb Ways To Die Become Popular?
The Dumb Ways of Die mobile game series didn't actually gain popularity as a mobile game but as a public service announcement. According to the game's official website, it is the world's most shared PSA, with the original 2012 jingle accumulating over 282 million views as of press time.
Campaign mentioned that it has over 3.2 million shares on Facebook and has been retweeted over 100,00 times on Twitter in 2013 alone. At that time, it is the third most viral ad of all time, charting on iTunes in 28 countries. The song was so viral it sold 100,000 copies and entered iTunes' top 10 charts within days of its launch.
The message of the song and the first game is made clear in the last part of the song, wherein the song's cartoon characters die due to them doing acts that should never be done in railways, train station platforms, and around trains in general.
The message: don't do anything dumb and stay safe around trains.
