AT&T and Microsoft delay some shipments of Nokia Lumia 1520

Some customers who ordered the AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 via AT&T's online store and Microsoft's store have started receiving emails indicating the shipment has been delayed.

If you ordered an AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 from AT&T or Microsoft's online store, you might want to check your inbox. A new report claims that the highly anticipated 6-inch phablet is not shipping as promised, with many customers receiving emails to notify them of a shipping delay.

Windows Phone Central is reporting that AT&T and Microsoft have sent out emails to customers who pre-ordered the Nokia Lumia 1520 to alert them that the phablet isn't going to land on their doorsteps as originally promised. The email contained a brief message explaining the delay, but did not list when customers can expect to receive the Lumia 1520.

"Because of overwhelming demand, your Nokia Lumia 1520 order is delayed in shipping. As soon as your shipping label is printed, we'll send you an email with the tracking information. You can also track your order on our site."

One reader told the site that AT&T has indicated that the Lumia 1520 should be delivered on or before Dec. 2. 2013. Customers who pre-ordered the AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 through Microsoft's online store received their emails with an apology for the delay and a $25 promotional code to be used for their next purchase from Microsoft's online store.

As a reminder, the AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 features a 6-inch Full HD 1080p display and runs the latest version of Windows Phone 8 with Update 3 pre-installed. It comes with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 64GB microSD cards. It's also the first WP8 handset to ship with a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and packs in 2GB of RAM.

Nokia has included a 20-megapixel PureView rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics and optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera. The handset runs on AT&T's 4G LTE network, has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. It also packs in a large non-removable 3,400 mAh battery.

There are reports that some AT&T and Microsoft retail stores have limited stock, so if you've been wanting to get the Lumia 1520, give those stores a call to check on availability first. We'll stay on top of this story and keep you up to date as soon as more details become available.
