Genshin Impact Voice Actors Complains About Unpaid Wages; HoYoverse Shows Support

Two voice actors from the popular video game, Genshin Impact, opened up with the voice actors' unpaid wages for almost half a year of work.

Brandon Winckler, known for his minor roles and additional voices for Genshin Impact expressed his disappointment on Twitter.

"I'm so sick of waiting 3+ months for payment for literally the BIGGEST video game project out there. Voice Actors. Demand your payments," Winckler tweeted.

Additionally, Corina Boettger who voices Paimon in English, expressed also her situation.

"Again... been working for MONTHS unpaid on a BIG project for a studio. I am owed THOUSANDS of dollars. I am struggling currently to pay rent because of this," she tweeted.

Genshin Impact Devs Shows Support to Actors

In a statement sent to GamesRadar+, Genshin Impact developer, HoYoverse explained their side.

"We have made payments to our recording studio on time, and we have immediately urged the studio to pay our voice actors," HoYoverse stated.

The recording studio that currently manages the voice actors for Genshin Impact is Formosa.

The devs showed empathy towards the affected voice actors and have vowed their support towards them.

"We truly regret to learn about the ongoing situation. Genshin Impact values and respects the work and effort of everyone involved, and we support our voice actors to claim their proper due," HoYoverse wrote.

The Problem With Genshin Impact Production

Genshin Impact is one of the many non-union productions.

According to Winckler most of the non-union productions suffer from the same problem.

"Many non-union productions have this problem, I've waited anywhere from 4-8 months for payment, and even then, it isn't much to ask," he said.

Similarly, Boettger calls for the project to be under union. "This project has made BILLIONS. This project should be Union," she tweeted.

As of writing, HoYoverse promised to seek alternative solutions and will assured that they will keep everyone posted on further developments on the issue.
