Neopets Team (TNT) has announced that the company is now operating under the guidance of a new leadership team.
For the first time since 2005, Neopets is now an independent company again. The team will be part of a new company called World of Neopia, led by Dominic Law.
In line with big changes, a new Neopets website will be launched on July 20.
"Neopets.com isn't going anywhere, but the team will be giving the site some extra care to fix up some issues with the site, including the Flash games," TNT explained.
A New Era for Neopets
The new website will serve as a content map for players where they can find all brand announcements, links to other different games and products, a repository of Neopets articles and related links, and more.
According to the Neopets trailer, the new team will relaunched island builders as an episodic adventure, with Chapter One beta coming out before the year ends.
Faerie's Hope will also be directly under the supervision of TNT, while other games will also be brought back and improved by the new team.
Neopets is also targeted to be released on mobile by 2024.
The History of Neopets
Neopets was one of the hottest games in the early 2000s, but gamers for virtual pets gradually declines through the years with lots of other games in the market.
In 2005, Neopets was bought by Viacom for $160 million and was sold in 2014 to JumpStart. However, the latter company struggled to developed a success for the game and was shut down last June 30.
"The Neopets Team is, for the first time in over a decade, equipped to make meaningful changes in pursuit of a Neopian renaissance," TNT wrote on a blog post.
The new Neopets trailer promised updates and brand ambassador programs that will launch in the next couple of months.
